We've signed 5 players over the age of 30 in the last 4 seasons.
You'd say Tom Davies, Jamie Shackleton & Kalvin Phillips were/are injury prone. The rest were/are either decent or just crap. I'd wager most championship teams signings over the last few years have a similar make-up.

It’s groupthink unfortunately.

Even players the right side of 30 are now labelled as “finished”.

With footballers able to play well into their late 30s and beyond the obsession on here with signing players as young as possible is baffling. Playing a 16 year old cb in the champ is insane.

They weren’t released, they didn’t want a sign a new contract. There’s a difference.

I've got my opinion on this and wonder what other people think.

As a manager, if you were after a specific player or a certain position this late in the window, would you mention it in an interview or would you keep quiet about it.

I know CW said he was after a CB which puts it out there for everyone to know, but if you were him, would you keep quiet about other attacking targets just to stop other clubs trying to scupper those deals.

We got heavily linked with both Souttar and Worrall, and suddenly Wrexham swoop in and get Worrall, and soon got linked with Souttar after CW started talking about the rumours.

Same thing with us and Derby in regards to BBD and Choudhury, they got heavily linked with Derby, and we swooped in and signed both.

I might be wrong or I might be right, we'll find out tomorrow for definite, but I wouldn't be surprised (and hopeful that he is) if he's keeping quiet on other targets aside from a CB.

Tbf, Egan was still recovering from a nasty injury and there was no certain time of when he would return.

Pretty sure he didn't make his Burnley debut until October after signing in late August as he was still recovering from that injury.
