Gone Elsewhere Dowell back Permanently?

Id take him for the right price (£2m).

Hes a good young footballer, whats not to like. If we bad stayed down i would want js to sign him and i reckon the orice would be £2m ish. So even though weve gone up, hes still a good young player and the prixe remains the same. If Everton want double etc then i would move on, but hes worth a place in our 25 man squad if he comes.

He's a player that fits the model and we have seen glimpses of what he's got but I think Duffy will be the no.2 no.10 if you get my drift so I think Dowell probably won't be signing. Then again players in that position aren't cheap, Dack apparently being valued at £18m is just crazy.

Would like to see him have a full pre season with us

£18 million is what Blackburn have said he’s worth, I’d be surprised if anyone pays that.

Not on a loan again we can get someone better on loan either permanent or move on

Seems like Everton are going to do some squad trimming this summer so probably a good chance of a deal being done.

I'd take him, takes a bit of time to get into a game, usually a so so first half and then wakes up for the second but he's got talent, bit of pace, can finish and will go and defend unlike some other players in his position.

Good age too.

Love this message board we have people now who say I would sign him for x amount like he would come for £2million!

Think dowell never showed his potential for us he’s a number ten and barely played there for us.
If he had a good run he’d be great dunno if we can afford to play him as main no 10 would rather sign some of the other names mentioned

At a reasonable price absolutely. Good player, used to being around players of PL calibre and has room to develop. Not played enough until the start of last season so will need some work to reach his potential. £2-3m max.

Wouldn’t be opposed to this at a reasonable price. He’s only gonna improve for us and is at the right age.

Think he might want more guarantees of minutes though if he’s to move from his hometown club.

I came across an article earlier on newsnow, which was by some fella called Charles Jones on Footballfancast calling a decision to sign Dowell ‘baffling’

He’s citing his inexperience at Prem level and that he and Duffy haven’t been very good for United this season.

Who writes shite like this? Dowell and Duffy have played a huge part in a fantastic season which saw us go up automatically

I’ve not linked to it as I didn’t want to give such drivel any further publicity.

The author clearly doesn’t understand anything about Sheffield United under Wilder that we may well go back for a player who’s served us well and deserves a crack at the prem with us, if that’s the way we decide to take this forward

Under 4 million and i'd probably say yes as he's been pretty decent and will probably improve due to his young age.

I wouldn’t waste money on Dowell. I don’t think he showed much - other than those two important goals. He’s slow and he lacks strength. I think he struggled at the championship level and will only struggle more in the prem.

Plus we are playing with a limited budget, why waste 4m on a player that won’t be in the starting lineup. I would rather spend 7-8m and bring in a Duffy replacement.

Not at all slow, that’s rubbish, his strength will improve as he gets older, very good player. I guess you haven’t watched him much?

Would take him for a initial low fee with big bonuses if we stay up and he plays a certain percentage of games.

For £5m I think we coukd do better.

What are you thoughts on Kieron Dowell coming back on a permanent basis? Media linking him with a return to the lane this summer.

From what I've seen it's no from me. Looks a distant second to Duffy but I would trust CWAK to make him a better player should he re-sign.....

I think there's better options than Dowell personally. He isn't influential enough to our team performance in my opinion, goes missing alot and struggles to beat a man. I'd rather us go for a younger Duffy type or someone with abit of pace and will take people on but is also composed/can hold the ball up and link play when under pressure. Romaine Sawyers, Alex Pritchard & Luke Freeman are names that spring to mind who I think could fit that role in our system well.

Which Duffy replacement would you sign for £7-8 million?

I've watched every game ;) I doubt there would be many that would classify Dowell as fast. I do think he will get stronger, but not worth the gamble imo.
