As with all fellow Blades I am desperate for us to stay up this season for football reasons etc. but actually I am almost more desperate to stay up so we can say a big old “thank you and fuck off” to all the pundits who have written us off before a ball has even been kicked.

I know every season newly promoted clubs get some of this but for whatever reason we seem to be the only (main one) of the newly promoted teams to be getting this. Norwich despite their appalling defensive record in the Championship and minimal strengthening seem to be ok apparently as do Villa who of course have spent a kings ransom- that never goes wrong does it?

Don’t know the reason for this but it’s starting to piss me off now despite me generally being quite ambivalent to what the media and pundits say.

I just feel the media don't and haven't for a long time lines sufc. Tevezgate, ched, play off losing etc I think has caused people to dislike us.

I suppose it depends on what media. I don’t do much social media or read papers but tend to listen to the radio. I’ve heard several features on whether Villa are ‘doing a Fulham’. I’d say they’re talked about more than us. Norwich less so. But I’d expect that because Norwich getting promoted (or relegated) isn’t as big news. They’ve been a yo yo club for several years whereas three years ago we were in L1 and had been for some time.

The coverage of PL football has increased hugely since we were last in it. We just have to get used to that. I’ve heard a number of pundits saying we should be OK. I don’t think we need any additional motivation, if a bunch of championship players can’t get motivated by the opportunity of becoming established PL players there’s something wrong.

Concentrate on the positives, carrying negativity around isn't any good for the health.

I thought the reason was quite obvious, it’s nothing personal.

Most of our players have a good record at Championship, league 1 or league 2 level, hardly anyone has played in the PL.

Individually we are very underwhelming so they suspect we’ll fight and scrap against our opponents, who on paper, have much higher quality.
After a few games they’ll be shocked when we are nothing like a Warnock stereotype side and we play with high quality.

Even I find it hard to believe how Wilder can buy what appear to half decent players but he plays them in a certain role so they start performing like top quality.

From the outside looking in we are prime candidates for relegation. Everyone thinks we are a one man team in Billy Sharp and he's never played at this level. People who didn't watch any Championship football last season (most pundits) will look at our team and think "who?". The fact that our team is British too goes against us in the mind of the uneducated. They probably haven't seen either Leitner or Fleck play but the former sounds like he will be better.

I think it's fair for people to make an educated prediction that we will go down. There are many things against us and none of us know how the lads will take to the step up but when people use "relying on Billy Sharp" or "they've signed Mousset for £10m" as a reason to why we will be relegated then you may as well just laugh because they are talking about things they don't understand.

WE ARE ALL BLADES. SIMPLE.

Even if we do well and are comfortably mid table all season people will still pigeon hole us
I was thinking of a comparison to another side in the prem And i realised id never actually seen Burnley play under dyche and had only seen Huddersfield and Bournemouth when they played the likes of Liverpool and man city and that's how we will be judged on how we perform against far superior teams .if we get hammered by having a go we will get slated and if we try to defend and counter or frustrate we will also get slated

the group will have to be mentally tough enough to get enough points on the board in which ever manner it takes and the pundits will say whatever they're going to say regardless

Tut tut.

I expected better now that Beans had taken you under his wing.

Billy has had the grand sum of 2 appearance with no goals:

I completely agree with this. Why shouldn't the media think we will go down? A lot of the pundits will not have seen us and the last time they did will have been under Warnock. They'll assume that our style is 'muck and nettles' and won't know otherwise. Wilder is someone unproven in the PL as he was in every league he's done well in beforehand, hopefully he can do what he's done in every other league he's managed.

Those who watched us last season have generally been complimentary I've found.

The fans in the PL are patronising but I'd expect that.

One thing is for certain, if we stay up it will be a huge 2 fingers at a lot of people. It won't be easy though.

You know what I mean. No starts I don't think though?

I'm waiting for them all to back-track after we've beaten a few of the more fashionable sides, let's say. Most of these 'experts' haven't really got a clue. The Sky presenter Sue Smith proved that. Hahaha that interview re Madine joining us still makes me laugh. But an even bigger laugh is how has she still got a job?

I hate this fucking league. Let’s take the money and fuck off back.

There's a lot to dislike. Money corrupts. The more money people have, the more greedy they become. Just look how much of the PL money drips down to the grass roots. The PL today is all about making money, regarless of traditions or respect for loyal fans. I'm uneasy with a lot of things about this fucking league.

Saying that, wouldn't it be great if we had a stormer of a season, finishing 5th or 6th, pipping Arsenal or Chelsea to a Europa League place. That would really piss off the London hacks.

We have a manager who's never managed at this level, a vast majority of players who've never played at this level and the last time we played at this level and survived Brian Deane was in the team.
Why on earth would anyone stick their neck out and tip us to stay up? We're an "easy option" for anyone trying to pick some relegation candidates and why anyone would get upset by that is beyond me!
Let's survive and see what they have to say when we've done it.

Now days having tits or non Christian religious views goes a long way to securing work regardless of ability, see sadiq Khan for an example of the other PC job fiasco.

For me, the interesting one is Norwich. They recruited very little, been very quiet and had minimal national media coverage. It's almost as if they don't exist - and that's for the champions coming up?!

All the focus has been on sweethearts and big spenders villa, and how Sheffield United are out of their depth. Norwich? Not a peep.

Roy!

Roy, my dear Roy!

I expected so much better from you and at least a hand held up in shame at being an un-Bladey know-nowt and a promise never to do it again.

Again I get denial of yer' real facts and some kind of pathetic excuse about 'starts'.

You said 'never played', so you are so bang to rights (or 'bang to wrongs')!

Admit your massive error now or it's the sharks for you my lad.

:shark:

I think the club may have 100,000,000 motivations to stay up.

Gonna need a bigger biscuit tin.

Hey I'm a modern man me! :p The fact that she is a women is irrelevant. She's a shit football pundit, but I suppose fits in with most of the 'experts' on Sky.

What I find hilarious is that even supporters of other championship teams seem perplexed at how we managed automatic promotion, yet at the same time think that we were the best team to "come to our place" last season.

We don't always look like a super slick, elegant, athletic, attacking side (Norwich). Nor do we look like a super-stiff, rugged, solid, hard-to-beat and effective team (Cardiff).

We're somewhere between and able to adapt between this spectrum as a team. That's our strength.

I've got Boro and Leeds fans at work trying to take the piss out of our 'pathetic' attempt at survival before a ball has even been kick. Mocking our signings. Fucking idiots. They haven't got a clue.

Fucking Pontus Jansonn? Fucking Alioski? Fucking Patrick fucking Bamford? These cunts wouldn't recognise talent, or good value for money if it kicked them in the dick.

Everyone thinks we are a one man team in Billy Sharp
Uneducated pundits think that.
The amateur but more intelligent pundit Benjamin Bloom did a championship preview (2 years ago) and included the 3 most important players at every team, for us he selected JOC, Coutts & Fleck. This the season after Sharp had nailed in 30 goals in the league.

This made me laugh as it's very true :)

United fans getting unnecessarily wound up at the media and being paranoid they've all got it in for us part 1,279

Bollocks to them ,even Martin Tyler will need to type in Sheffield on his sat nav, it's been that long since they bin to lane

This time next year it will be the foreign media saying "I cant see them getting past the group stages" .
