We got the big screen from them, always on the cheap!

Huge excitement at the time this was announced – a massive two-pager of a thread https://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/big-screen.14627/#post-180747

It was more of an attempt at a joke because they went bust. Then I realised that they never actually went out of business so the joke is on me.

I fookin’ hate the annoying flashing things.

I’d like to watch a game of footy without constantly having some inane advertising pushed in my face.

The comment about adding to the match day experience could only have been devised by a marketing buffoon that doesn’t actually watch a game.

Mad Men indeed.

"add to the fans' matchday experience"
Yes a headache

I don't understand how it adds to a fans matchday experience. I can confidently say I've never been to a sports event and thought "ohh look at that advert, suddenly I need that in my life"

I get why clubs do it for revenue purposes, but to "add to our matchday experience" is just utter bollocks.

It will probably add to the match day experience for some fans.

Probably the same ones that sit near me on the kop who spend a big chunk of the match looking at their phones.

You can just see the boards now can't you? "Win prizes now, just text 7448" or "Log onto our Facebook page to get all the latest from todays game" despite the fact your are fucking well sat there watching it.

Things were so much simpler when you just had the bloke who changed the scores in the corner.

Fucks sake.

If,"add to the fans' matchday experience" means the flashing lights induce epileptic fits in those susceptible then that is a classic piece of ad man's bullshittery. On the other hand Ricky might be happy if hundreds of people writhing on the floor foaming at the mouth means the atmosphere is better then it might be a goer ;)

They could do that with the Boards, update the Pigs score by a bloke walking down the boards, like he did at the Pavillion back in the day

Would rather the commercial dept focused their efforts on improving the 'refreshments' on offer and the service that administers that refreshment....

Some fancy advertising hoardings or decent beer/lager on draft served by people who know what they're doing?

Outsourced isn't it? #yougetwhatyoupayfor

This is the thing that always pisses me off most about “marketing” / advertsingthink. Barely concealed beneath the surface of this kind of bollocks is the patronising assumption that we’re all so stupid, and that our lives are so empty, that we are all automatically enriched by gormless messaging about shit commodities that we neither want nor need. The Frankfurt School that super_pig is always on about, would describe it as the ultimate signifier of our degraded, “one dimensional” consumer culture.

Best way to “improve the match day experience” (other than by providing proper beer at affordable prices, and cutting the volume on Gaz) would be to eliminate the advertising and corporate crap entirely.

IMO. Naturally.
