It you cannot defend you are never going to win enough matches to go up automatically, Yes with a good strike force you might outscore the opposition on a number of occasions. & I personally think we have a good strike force. But when we constantly go a goal behind & have to press the opposition which can afford to sit back, we struggle.
When we score first & the opposition have to come out to try & equalise then there is space to get at them & possibly get a second. Its still only October & we have lost 3 at home to clubs we would never have expected to lose to, mainly because we have a defence that always looks vulnerable, & has done since the Harry left.
Attack wise & in the midfield we have enough to get out of this division, but if we continue to leak goals as we have done then the play offs is as good as we can hope for. We have tried various permutations at the back, but it is always the same result, 6 clean sheets from 19 games says everything!
I still believe we are only a couple of players away from a promotion challenging side, as long as they are defenders.
