Thought we made that a lot harder than it should have been. Far too slow turning defence into attack. As soon as the ball is turned over we fail to get up the pitch and let them reset comfortably.

Don't get me wrong, it's a decent 3 points and a win but we made it so bloody scrappy.

Soumare and Chong need shipping out. Cannon was pretty ineffective again.

Thought Peck had a good game.

Oxfords game plan worked to start with. Slow the game down and then they got a goal from a spillage off cooper.

They tried to make it bitty all game. Which can work until you are the losing side.

I thought Cannon put in the effort. And he did play a nice pass for Brooks. He also got caught offside about 5 times. Mind you Sharp used to as well.

Peck had a good game and Hamer and Burrows grew into it too.

Yet another game where the ref seemed to want some attention.

Yep fully agreed there, no idea what he was doing half the time but least it didn’t cost us

We've had promotion seasons where we would have dropped points in a similar situation imo.

Never felt like we were going to lose once we got going in the minutes before our first. Other than a break away goal I wasn't worried after that.

Poor first 35 minutes. Slow to get going. Weren't even clicking after they scored. We need to be on it from the start.

Still plenty of positives though. Good we can still win without Bamford. Ogbene looked decent. Bindon is improving. Cannon played well again. Brooks, Seriki, Peck all had good games. Hamer sublime at times (that pass). Oh and pigs lost again.

Hopefully Bamford is back Monday, and Brooks is okay. Probably hoping too much to see Davies back, but the extra couple of days' rest is welcome

Oxford had no intention of playing anything that resembled football and it descended into grappling, holding, pushing kicking and everything else they could get away with.

The ref was weak as piss and he never clamped down on them.

Eventually we imposed our quality but we need to be able to deal with teams that resort to the dark arts and be as physical as they are.

Still a win is a win is a win.

The first half was hard work for about 30 minutes, then we woke up and scored a lovely goal.

Second half we were completely dominant, and scored 2 even better goals.

Bindon was MOTM. Seriki, Brooks, Cannon and Hamer (in patches) were also superb.

Good job we didn't lose you could have harmed yourself.

Thought when we were patient and recycled the ball, we looked good. Once we panicked and launched it long or hit the channels we looked really really poor.

Down to coaching really. Tufty needs to reinforce the need to be patient and work the ball around until either Hamer or OHare get on th ball. If we do that, we'll be reyt

Fans aren't patient enough. They played a back 5 and sat deep, there was no space to play in behind them and attack quickly. We remained patient, created good chances and got our reward.

Not to say we weren't a bit sloppy in the first half an hour (Tanganga, Blaster), but passing it around the back a bit and waiting for a good opportunity to break their lines was always going to be the way.

Think this could be our most important win all season. It was clear from the get go that Oxford would sit 11 behind the ball, and time waste at any given opportunity. When they went ahead, I really did doubt whether we’d be able to turn it around, especially with no Bamford and Cannon struggling to lead the line on his own.

Peck took his goal really well and think the timing of it was huge. That right hand side of Seriki and Brooks will always be a threat for opposing sides, both were great tonight. Cannon did brilliantly to persevere and pull it back to Brooks for the second goal. Delighted for Ogbene too, seems a great lad and hopefully that will give him some real confidence. Big game on Monday night, but play-offs are back on!

I would not be hard on that performance. We did not rotate much from the weekend, when the team put in a real stretch and Oxford were a powerful team that made it hard from that start. If Cooper had not made a clanger, we would inevitably got a one goal lead and opened Oxford up.a bit. Everyone involved, even those struggling seemed to want it and had a go, Cannon continuing to chase centre backs deep into injury time says a lot about the team ethos at the moment.

Gobsmacked with how many thought Cannon was good. He was really poor, poor technique and a poor football brain which is why his runs are not very good and often results with him caught offside. He closes down enthusiastically now which is why I assume folk are saying he had a good game for? We could get any fit footballer to close down enthusiastically, even a lower league player. He did one thing of note in the whole game after the defender ballsed it up and literally fell over and left him totally free with the ball, he then passed it 10 yards to brooks. Pretty sure I could still do that.

Just don’t see it whatsoever with this lad, has no attribute to his game that I can be positive about.

I thought Cannon was one of our best players tonight
I thought he was pretty poor again. Good pull back for the goal but the defender got his studs stuck in the turf and collapsed in a heap to allow him the chance. Won a couple of headers that went nowhere and was caught offside umpteen times. Nothing against the lad but he just doesn't do enough or look a goal threat. Putting a shift in should be a given.

Agreed. The number of times he was offside was pretty much the measure of his performance. He doesn't read the game very well and isn't mobile enough. Yep, he got an assist but as you say it was down to an error by their player. Campbell worked well into the channels when he came on and was at least 'available' and running into space.

Our corner taking was a bit iffy at times too.

Glad we won, but really it should have been five nowt. Oxford are where they are, just above Weds, for a reason.

It's kind of the United way though. Get beaten by Charlton and Southampton, turn Ipswich over, give the game back to Millwall and look a bit underwhelming against the likes of Oxford.

Watch us smash Boro and go 0-0 into injury time against Wednesday :D

Team comes to put everybody behind the ball, unexpectedly finds themself a goal to the good and stifle/shithouse the life out of the game.

I’ve seen us draw or lose that kind of game more times than I care to remember.

Good performance in my view. I’d pick Bindon out as my man of the match.

Soumare is way off the standard required for this league but we are playing him out of necessity

Couldn't agree more. Was summed near the end of the first half when he mis controlled a simple pass but was saved by the fact he was flagged for off side!

Those saying he played well are suffering from tallest dwarf syndrome. He's a poor football and emblematic of where we're at. If he's starting for us in the majority of games, we have zero chance of finishing in the top 6. Ever.

We needed to get another forward in as Campbell,Ings,Cannon aren’t going to score more than 10 between them, and none of that trio are clever enough to contribute many either. Seriki man of the match for me as the back line had no one to mark. Up and down like the proverbial prostitutes knickers.
