Where exactly did I say a player can't peak that young? I am well aware that they can. However, there isn't a single one of us on here that is in a position to say that a 22 year old has reached his peak.
 

Scougall was signed for the development squad. Or were you not listening?
The fact that he's done well enough to get a large number of first team starts is credit to him
 
Think today would take us up to the 30th December - which would be enough as there are no games on the 31st

Bradford on the 28th Dec and Peterborough on the 2nd Jan.

Jan transfer window opens on the 2nd of Jan this year but don't you need 24 hours for registrations?

Today could be the day after all :)

At 22, it's pushing it as a development squad player isn't it? He looks miles off being good enough now, and the direction of travel is backwards.

It's tempting to keep all these borderline players and hope for the best, but that leads to enormous, expensive and average squads.

I shall believe it when I see him on Saturday, wearing the Blades kit, and actually playing on the pitch, for us vs port Vale ........ hopefully along with Dan Burn and maybe a couple of other surprises that NA may be working on ....

Yes, I know I'm a grumpy, cynical old bastard but I've been through this with my beloved blades for 51 years now so I'm just protecting my remaining sanity by NOT building up my hopes :rolleyes:

They are top of the league and deservedly so but they won't be the top of the league come Jan when injuries and suspensions kick in. That's when the bigger squads like ours take over o_O
Same goes for Walsall and Gillingham. Unless they are extremely lucky injury wise then they will drop off for sure.
 

Oo I do love these today threads. Would have been better starting yesterday though.

Maybe we are signing Richard Hammond instead? I hope not though as we don't need anymore short players.
 
Just doing the maths so forgive me but I calculate 93 days from tomorrow to take any signing through until Dec 31. However, the JTW doesn't open until 2nd January and I don't believe anyone signed on 2nd Jan would be eligible to play that day so basically as I see it we can sign a player ahead of tomorrow but they would not be available for the Peterborough game on 2nd Jan. That is the decision that has to be made.

Incidentally, the JTW closes on 1st February so mark that down as next Meltown Day in your diaries.
