Would love us to get this done, get him marshalling Basham and protecting Baxter in the middle of a 3.

4-3-3 is what we need to play, especially with the fact the players we have not suiting 4-4-2.

I know I'm a bit out of step on this one, but the prospect of Hammond just doesn't excite me that much.

The average age of the first team is too high even as things stand & Hammond, while he's been there & done it, wouldn't be the right choice to help solve the problems re: lack of pace, dynamism, fluidity in midfield IMO.

In saying that, if he did sign I'd welcome him here & would be delighted to be proved wrong.

The board committing themselves to paying a fee in January for Sam Morsy, & bringing him on loan in the meantime, would seem to offer much more potential though, as I see it.

Hammond has played very little football in the last 8 months. I doubt he will hit the road running.

That could be a concern in the short term.

Yes and we had to put up with a kid from Watford until we got him. I think his name was Tony Currie (could walk on water you know) :)
Yes after Scullion rejected the move, we switched our attentions to TC, agreed a fee but Watford didnt want to allow him to leave until after they were knocked out of the FA Cup. Ironically the FA Cup draw paired us with Watford (FA Cup 3rd round was in late January that season). We won with a Mick Hill goal

That was my first away game !!
In the programme for our next home game there was a statement from the club expressing their disappointment that a lot of items such as light bulbs, seats etc in the Train Special were damaged by some Blades fans in the journey back home from Watford and I think the club paid for the damages.

:o I wouldn't stand for that Pedro!

Silent is blatantly implying that you were the main culprit

infractions could be issued!

I was 9 years old and went with my Dad on the coach, we had problems finding the coaches after the game
luckily a local guy gave us a lift and we found them just as they were about to set off home

SUSC coach that departed from Hill Street? In these years our programme would give details for coach travel for the next home game and the coach always departed from Hill Street. The SUSC secretary at the time was a chap called Ron Styling (not sure about spelling)

Styring I believe.
When did he leave his post? There cannot have been a lot of SUSC secretaries in the years between Styring and Beryl Whitney. I remember one called O'Rourke in the 1980s but he died suddenly at a young age

Couldn't say Silent, just remember his name as sec of supporters club. I'll ask John Bramhall on Saturday as he sits at the end of our row.

Silent Blade dont know if this will help....

When I was treasurer then chair of HQ Supporters Club circa 1984-6 (and for a few years before) Dot was the secretary. For the life of me I can't remember her surname if I recall I will post it later.

Dot Pearson! She ran the Hackenthorpe boys team in the SUSC 5 a side tournament at Retford in June 1972. My dad ran the Dronfield team. A few weeks later Dot brought her team to play a friendly against my dad's team (I was the keeper) at Cemetery Road Park

Was G2K, not seen Dot for many years we lost touch. We used to sit in the old caravan at the back of the Kop taking away coach bookings before the game and at half time. She had a printing business up on Commonside, I was a draffy and used her for printing drawings. Think she spent more time oganising the coaches for SUSC than she did on her business. Salt of the earth is Dot and a massive Blade!

You'll remember her sidekick Keith too then ??

I used to go on HQ coach 1 from @ 78-88 give or take.

Dot could be a bit fierce with the young un's to keep them (us !) in check !!

Hammond not in Leicester squad of 18 for match against West ham he is surely going out on loan ? hope it's us he would
Make a massive difference to our midfield

We know why Burn isn't able to join us yet, but there seems little reason I can see if we're serious about this deal as to why it isn't happening – unless of course this has all been a bit of a red herring.

I notice Leeds aren't willing to commit to signing Buckley until next friday so that then he is available for them until the 2nd Jan. Maybe we are doing or hoping to do the same thing with Hammond.

The 93 day rule...

It's not a red herring. He's Nigel's main target.

Then there was Alan Wright and his brother Ian. I was usually on Coach Two. I remember Mick and John were often on it as well, accompanied sometimes by a slightly disabled chap whose name I forget and also a blond lad called Ian, I think. I still see M and J at BDTBL forty years on...

Yep, and Alan and big Dave, I was usually with Alan on coach 2. Keith was usually in charge of making the butties we sold on the coach, caused a controversy once when he bought haslet for the butties and no one knew what it was. Funny these days we would have loads of photos rather than just memories.
