The issue we had with DM was that we just didn't know whether he would be injury free or not this season. After last season and his injury problems which lets be right wasnt an unknown situation for him, we were between a rock and a hard place about whether we kep him around. His wages would also not have been unsubstantial and we have probably used his wages saved on brining in the two City lads. So I totally get why we let him go. That said, if we had known he was to stay injury free then I'm it would have been daft to let him go. But then Hecky and Co can't see the future and you can bet your bottom dollar that if we had kept him he would have been injured on day 1 of the season.

Anyway he's left now and i just wish him the very best with the remaining part of his career.

Things you didn't expect to see at the start of the season: ex-Blades' contribution* to Derby's top scorers table! Well done Didzy 😍Screenshot from 2022-12-17 23-06-54.png
*EDIT: and current Blades, apologies to Will

It did make sense for Didzy to move.

He's too good for that level and probably would like to play regularly.

So, either he wouldn't be playing regularly or we'd have been restricting Iliman Ndiaye's development.

Until yesterday, when we didn't play, we had the two joint scoring forwards in the division let's not forget.

Hopefully this ends up being a good outcome all round.

Great to see him doing so well.

Worth remembering it’s a hat trick against forest Green Rovers

Of course it is, he was excellent for us and one of the best we’ve ever had. He carried us in that season we went down and I dread to think how much worse that season would have been without him.

But, saying we shouldn’t have let him go just because he’s had a good game against Forest Green Rovers isn’t conclusive proof we made a mistake in letting him go so soon.

Regardless of how he’s doing this season I felt the same at the time we released him, that I wished we’d have kept him another year maybe on an appearance paid agreement (if such a contract exists). It’s a matter of opinions but I think it was a mistake to not keep him around a little longer.

Its his 2nd hattrick of the season , I have said we should have never let him go well before yesterdays game ??

Belittling his hattrick against a supposedly weaker team is like saying our 100 points in the same division was easy in the same division .

If its that easy why aren't strikers scoring hattricks every Saturday against Forest Green Rovers .

It was clearly the right decision to release him at the end of his contract and the chances are he would only have been a bit part player if he’d stayed. Delighted for him that he’s doing well at Derby and I hope we get to see him back at the Lane one day.

Could be a goalfest in League 2 if you end up with Didzy, Billy, Mullin, Langstaff and whoever Wrexham are yet to throw silly money at all scrapping for the golden boot.
