No I haven't

"Yes, I'm on the wind up...……...working well isn't it.
Got a few likes though, so I'm happy to say that maybe all United fans aren't dumb, gullible fools after all"

You came on here to wind us up and refer to us as United fans, you don't sound like a Blade.

But then as a comparison look at Leeds and how they've done nothing since they were relegated in 2004. Look at Wednesday too. They've spent millions and look at how they are and Forest haven't come close to promotion back to the Prem and we stopped them in 2004. I agree we have sold our players too often and not for enough money and at times we could have spent more - ideally - but also I think we've done better than some so called bigger clubs to.

Yes, I understand, sometimes clubs spend a few quid and it doesn't work out for them...…...I get it.
But using Wendy, Forest and Leeds as an example just begs the response that all three of them have had a MUCH MUCH MUCH better time of it than we have over the last forty years or so.

Spending money doesn't guarantee success, but it goes much further than spending practically nothing on players from a division or two below, or ageing, injured, nobodies that even the cruel nasty agents can't give away

For no other reason the feelgood factor cannot be underestimated, fans want to see players they can associate with, they want to see players that they can get excited about and buy tickets and other merchandise. They want to look at how well players have performed for other clubs and wish he played for us, then be over the moon when he signs for us.
There's no guarantee, of course there isn't, but a player on the up who has performed well in the past but doesn't perform for us for whatever reason is much easier to offload for a decent price than an injury prone, past it, nobody who has been our preferred type of signing for God knows how long.

We've tried it the Blayyyyddees Wahhhyyyy for about a million years and failed miserably
It's about time the club got in the 21st century and backed the best manager we've had for years before he walks
Because if this one walks away our minor recovery is all over

Where does it say I admitted to being a Wendy ?

Post a picture of your Blades shirt(s) or season ticket or ticket from last year or a photo inside BDTBL.

I couldn't find the post where you admitted the wind up initially and memory let me down. Don't sound like a blade still stands.
Are you wendy?

No mate, I'm not a Wendy
Being "on the wind up" was probably a daft thing to say, but I am taking the piss so just admitted it. I'm taking the piss out of the boardroom because they're pathetic.

I've enjoyed the last couple of years that Wilder and the players have provided.
WILDER and the players have provided that, nobody else, certainly not anybody upstairs. Wilder was just able to get the best out of the players whilst still being given practically nothing to work with. That will only get you so far though, the next level can only be achieved with boardroom backing no matter who the manager is

Despite enjoying the last year and a half I have also been quietly saying to myself throughout that time "Now that the boardroom have finally had a lucky stab in the dark and found a managerial gem what are they going to do when they have to back him properly"

We seem to have our answer, they'll fight and argue amongst themselves in true Sheffield United boardroom fashion about who's first going to put a pathetic sum of money in and the basis on which they're going to put this pathetic sum of money in anyway

Ok mate, welcome to the forum. Easy to get into arguments on here if you start winding people up, be warned.

I don't think your a Wednesday fan, but there's something equally perverse about you.

You're approaching 100 messages, all of which are depressing and gloomy.

What's up?

He started brightly but didn't quite keep that standard for the rest of his 76 minutes.

Showed glimpses of quality but also rustiness. I don't expect him to be where the other players are fitness wise.

Hit the post with a good chance second half and had a good shot later on. Shame he didn't score.

Looked very good! Made smart runs dropped deep kept the ball well.

Seemed to tire after 60 mins but expected as he’s 2 weeks behind our lads. Would like to see him again at Mansfield but based on that performance today he’s looking a good bet for a signing.

If the rumour of big money striker is true I would have no issue with Mcgoldrick being a replacement for an expensive Gallagher / Hogan.

As I mentioned in another thread, fitness permitting, he’ll be a perfectly fine addition with another quality striker.

It’s not like both Leon and Billy need taking out back and putting out of their misery.

Leon scored more goals from open play than anyone including 8m rated Vydra. Billy was also one of a select number to comfortably get double figures.

Geting someone like this and freeing up more budget is an added bonus.

It beats spending 8m on a dud like Rhodes.

This is why CW is a perfect fit for us. I loved his comment last night that he isn’t a snob about where he gets his players from. This is exactly what our team needs. Alsong as we improve our squad year on year that’s all we can ask for.

Signing McGoldrick + this mystery big signing.

Would leave us with:

Clarke
Sharp
McGoldrick
+ mystery striker
Lavery
Ched

Maybe if we get rid of Lavery allow us to bring in another striker? Or another Duffy role player.

Sharp
Clarke
Evans
Hanson
Lavery

We started last season with those strikers, then Donaldson came in. I was actually shitting myself about going a season in the Championship with that lot.

We're going to start the season at the very least no weaker than we did last. Two signings and we'll be much stronger.

McGoldrick is a risk but a risk worth taking. His fitness may well improve without the 3 hour drive to Ipswich every day.
I'm happy as long as he's one of 5 strikers, 2 more to come.

I'd be pleased if we signed McGoldrick. Presuming he's not looking for a ridiculous wage so it would be a bit of a no-brainer with no fee involved.

Maybe we could dig out the posts when we signed an over 30 years old Leon and the subsequent constant threads of what a waste that was until he came back from injury and started scoring at the end of that season and became the new messiah.

If he was running it every day then I agree it would affect his fitness but can't see him getting a hamstring or cruciate injury from driving. I hope we sign him and he can keep free from injury, I would offer him a pay if you play type of contract and see how he goes. GLTTL,

No way he'll accept a pay as you play he's not at the James Wallace level of fitness.
Id like to offer him a highly incentivised contract though. Pretty standard basic wage with bonuses for apps and goals.

Davey lad, we like the way you've put yourself about out there, great contribution.

Hows a 1 year deal at 1k per match sound?

No?

We'll throw in your weekly shop too?

Meh.

While you're at it, dig out the posts from last summer proclaiming that Ched Evans was a good signing.

That’s a load of rubbish about the 3 hour drive to Ipswich affecting his fitness. It came from McCarthy I think. Just an excuse.

It's going to be interesting to see what contract we offer him. He's at that age where this is realistically his last 'big' move. Presumably he'll want at least 2, if not 3 years. Whilst we'd probably want to give him just 1.

Like we did with Duff & Leon?

Like we did with Duff & Leon?

Wasn't Leon's contract driven by the fact we couldn't match Bury's wages over 2 years?!

I still think the long contracts for older players will come back and bite us at some stage.
