RS were saying McCallum is out 6-8 weeks at least with a broken ankle so I think we can write off his season to be honest which is a massive loss.
Why their player was not given a red for this no idea. Even if you think its not a red it deserved a yellow for playing the part in causing the injury.

Wasn't Burrows on the end of a bad 50 / 50 the other night as well? Lately and last season it seems like the opposition can just clean our players out and barely get a card for it.

Bamford is absolutely quality at this level.

He's got great movement, composure and ability.

I've been so impressed by him since he signed.
Really stands out, as cut above everyone else. Has so many attributes, that it allows us to play different formations and styles of play. Such a clever player and yet when under the cosh you can boot it up to him and he'll hold it up as well.

Can't believe that he was without a club for months at the start of the season. Didn't just keep himself fit, but was pretty much match fit and could start right away.

Looked for a split second he was going to leather the ball, then just seemed to caress it into the net, class finish. Let's enjoy him while we can.
Why “while we can”?

Not having a go at you personally but I always see this “we can’t have nice things” narrative. Silent Blade also picked up on it on the Brooks thread.

Why can’t we enjoy him because he’s our player?

Even if we don’t go up I’m sure the Board will recognise that we can’t throw the baby out with the bath water.

We’ll need to drop some wages. But that’s the likes of Gus, who showed his quality once more but on whom we have far less reliance than last year. No doubt him and I dare say players like Davies won’t be retained. Wilder has shown himself to be adept on a budget. He’ll have some challenges shifting the likes of Chong and McGuinness.

But who knows? Hull City are looking vulnerable now and 6th is up for grabs. I can’t even say Ipswich are overly convincing presently either and Millwall lost at the weekend.

A really good run now and we could be wondering what all the fuss was about by the time the whistle blows against Derby.

Didn't realise he left Leeds in August judging by the start of this thread so he did have a pre season.

Even so coming in in November after months out and averaging a goal every 123 minutes is pretty good going!

I wonder who we can partner him with next season?
Get rid of Campbell, Cannon and Ings.
Oné will either get another loan or replace Paddy at the hour mark, but as a partner what type of striker would suit Bamford the most?

Patrick Bamford himself 🤣

He can literally play with anyone up top or on his own. Enables the team to play pretty much whatever formation the manager chooses.

Can play tip tappy to him, hoof it up to him. He'll run behind, play clever touches through the middle. First goal today, held it up in the middle of the park, beautiful turn to get away and release Hamer and then a clever finish from the scuffed Hamer shot.

Can pretty much do everything , apart from tap ins 🤣. It's almost as if he doesn't want to score a tap in and misses on purpose. Only wants quality goals on his highlight reels that fella.

Been so impressed with him this season and he's a joy to watch , jairo has been the same. Shows that there are quality players around that will make a massive difference that won't break the bank.

The “false 9” by playing 3 AMs seems to be a good option. It utilises the fact we have so many midfielders on the other hand. Campbell might be a bit difficult to get rid after surgery especially as not done too much this season. If he is fit in August and starts the season well might have an option there. Cannon is work in progress but he is a channel running striker not a left sided AM, if you play Cannon you play him with 2 up top, the same as Ings. Depending on formations One can play on the left as he has done with Lincoln on occasion however it is a step up to the championship.

In summary if plan A is the formation that we started today, then we are ok up top in general but if we want a plan B we need to keep strikers/look to bring some in. Although Ings hasn’t torn it up this year, he took his goal well against Hull and with us having an option on him if he is fit then why not give him another year as a bench player. Handy to have around the squad and used as another option.

If plan B/two up top, I'd like to see partnerships forged with both Campbell and Oné. Both would compliment nicely, in differing ways.
