Still no takers for Monty yet?
According to some on here I thought Monty had some sort of re-sale value?
Sadly he has. It's known as negative equity.
Which is entirely our own doing...![]()
You mean he could of been a contender?
He coulda bin sumbardy...
Not quite. If Monty was paid a Division 1 wage, we'd have sold him for a fee long ago.
Remember he was transfer listed by Warnock when he was on less money.
Still no takers back then, coincidence?
1 Kevin Blackwell was given a budget.
2 Blackwell told which players he'd like to spend it on.
3 Trever Birch finalised the deals.
I genuinely don't remember that. Was it before or after the Premiership season?

There was, only he was injured and it turned out it was worse than they'd originally thought...
Not that I want to drag up that old arguement for everyone to call me a liar.
The manager who wished to take him is back in a job in the Premiership
Always seems to be injured when people are interested in signing him.
Funny that.
I thought you said no-one was interested in signing him?
A lot of people interested but never a bid but always an excuse is ready as to why no bid was made.
He is not a player that is massively injury prone why are there never any bids for him when he is fit? He has spent the last decade fully fit 95% of the time.
If people were that interested they would come back for him.
Given that he's still with us, it's a little bit hard to have anything but an "excuse" for him not leaving really isn't it?
He spends most of his time playing through injuries, never mind being fully fit.
The manager I speak of found himself shopping in an entirely different aisle when he returned to fitness.
There was, only he was injured and it turned out it was worse than they'd originally thought...

Well i'm assuming that manager is Sam Allardyce.
What baffles me (but prob doesn't really with today's footballers) is that with the amount of time NM as spent at the club , the lack of regard he is showing to club in terms of helping them through their financial problems. I could understand a ex establish premiership player or journey men but for somebody who knows the club inside and out, I thought he would be one of the first to say, "look, I feel for club. Let try and work something out"

The club can pay his wages - we're not in administration here. McCabe has been subsidising them for years. So why should Monty volunteer to a pay cut because the man who authorised his contract suddenly decides it's too expensive?
It's the club's fault for failing to enter a relegation triggered pay cut.
But seeing how the club can't afford to pay the tea lady with a number of staff being laid off, you would think, being a long serving member of the club, he would feel our plight and offer us something. But like all true footballers......
where in the real world, many of us have to take a wage cut or lose our jobs and that's even before a company goes into administration.
Aye, but my point is just that McCabe is a very rich man. He can afford to continue paying out, but is fed up with doing so. If he/we genuinely couldn't pay Monty's wages then fair enough, expect him to take a cut.
But since the mess is McCabe's doing and he agreed the contract.... I'd expect him to pay it if I were Montenbauer.
but with the Salary cap, it matters little how rich McCabe is.
