Nope, he thinks quicker that is obvious. Running wise he most definitely isn’t one of the quickest players in the team. He doesn’t have to be.
 
Has to be fleck into the coutts role for me. Then carruthers/Duffy in the Fleck role. Could wilder be tempted to bring Whiteman back from Donny?
 
Our players will battle like fuck for Couttsy. Chris and Alan will get through the disappointment and find a solution to the problem. We have some very good players waiting in the wings and ready to go. We can't change what's happened so let's get behind the guy who gets the shirt.

If we can find one who's as good as Coutts, then great. Lundstram was the best we could find in the last window. Leonard seems a bit different. If Whiteman could have been recalled to be back up in midfield today, rather than Basham, I think he would.

It's not really pace. It's being two footed so you can run anyway you want.
 
Call me crazy but duffy is the only player in our squad as comfortable on the ball as coutts is. Coutts confort on in and ability to retain possession with ease could only be "replicated" by duffy

Is it time top play a 3 of basham , fleck and duffy with duffy deeper and bash doing his tackling and have brooks linking to a striker

Thinking out the box...but a good call, I like that, could work...
 



Lundstram will be fine, Ryan Woods is gettable imo and to be honest if we did get him Indontnthink we would see a performance from him below that of what Coutts has been producing

Yep quick minded but he isn’t one of the quickest players in our team and wishing it to be true will never make it that way
 
Said it on another thread but we haven' got like for like. Back 3 have to take more responsibility for distribution and Flecks role involves more defensive work until Wilder figures out how to distribute the tasks

Absolutely we should, but Couttsy is far and away our most influential player. All our quality football goes through him. We’ve already seen how much we miss him once he went off tonight. Let’s not pretend it’s anything but a serious blow. We need to recruit real quality in January. No Boyband nonsense about Whiteman if we’re serious about promotion.
 
Gutted for Coutts, he’s been instrumental so far this season and will be truly misssd but we have to move on.

I’m not sure we have anyone who can replace Coutts man for man but we have some good players here, we will have to tweak the system a bit but we do have a manager who can tweak a system and use players accordingly.

We’ve had some injuries to cope with this season already and coped really well but this will really test Chris and the boys, something I’m sure the team and Chris will respond very well to.

If Wilder feels we need a replacement then the board need to give him whatever he wants. If a Coutts replacement will cost £10million so be it. We are in too good a portion to crowbar unsuitable players into the team. £10 million is a drop in the ocean if we do go up. Should we not go up this season we may not have the "surprise status" next. If Tufty thinks Lundstram can do the job then we should trust him if he doesn't lets see this game changing investment.

Why are you enhancing the point, people already know he will be a big miss.

Agreed! Lunstram is a decent player but he gave it away more in the second half than coutts in the entire season.

Hopefully there is some money in the bank in January. Be great to get a quality young prospect on loan or go for someone like Ryan Woods who has the same type of ability on the ball.
