As well as the manager(s)players, staff , fans etc I for one think the McCabe family deserve a lot of credit .
Ok some decisions haven't worked out of their own admission but even in the face of quite a lot of grief at times they've stood firm and backed the manager accordingly .
There will still be haters , there will still be those that get hung up on attendance figures and somehow convince themselves they are actually making massive profits out of the club.... I get that .
But I tell you what I don't see many people in the queue to stick 50/60/70 million quid in ... or whatever it is .
Even if I'm the only one , in light of today's crowning as champions I would like to say congratulations and well done !!

I'm one of McCabe's biggest supporters but to be fair what other options did they have other than ' sticking with it '

To stick with it AND put the cash in though is commendable .

With the McCabes you cant deny they care about the club, and have bankrolled it.

Think they have been guilty of some very poor decisions on managers, player sales atc crucial times etc etc However, they should be applauded along with wilder for this season. They got the appointment bang on and backed him to do the business.

You're not the only one.

I've always defended Mr McCabe.

Not saying that he hasn't made mistakes because obviously he has, but when he has he's always put his hand in his pocket again and tried to put it right.

Absolutely. Rock steady ship. Thank you Mr McCabe. Not many would have given whatever it takes to keep the blades alive like you have.

It really puts Coventrys situation into perspective the more you think about it doesn't it .

SISU at the Lane now after 6 years of underachievement would have seen the Academy sold , the Lane open for offers and us in League 2 at least .

The Lane on a match day would have been a war zone !

All for a bit of back slapping but let's not get carried away all he's done is righted a wrong of his doing 6 years ago. Credit where it's due though he stuck in there. The next actions (sell, invest or do it on the cheap) will be what I judge him by.

We're on the up, he has taken shit when we're on the down so it is only fair he takes credit for achievements. He appointed Wilder and is part of the ownership that backed him. Well done and here's to enjoying every moment.

Let's not get carried away

McCabe has now got us back to where we were when he took over

We'll see what his ambitions are next season

We will either be a good Championship club trying to go places

Or

We will be a club satisfied with its lot and happy to be back amongst the semi big boys

I gave him stick when he fucked up,so in fairness, well done Mr McCabe, you done good x

Met him a couple of times and found him to be a gentleman, Certainly he did not need to put a mahoosive amounts of money into the club. Some of the investments (especially in managers) has been poor. But the decisions to put money into Shirecliffe and the stadium and pitch need to be mentioned. You can never beat long-term investment. Or would you like a pitch like Oldham's?

To fully correct his colossal error we have to get back to where we were before he blew the Parachute cash on Nobson, i.e. Regular challengers for the top six in the Championship.

Find it hard to praise him for deciding to give a fuck again. So I won't.

Again? He's given enough fuck year on year to make up a substantial deficit between income and expenditure. The queue of people willing to do it for him has been conspicuous by it's absence.

He'll be as delighted as any of his fellow Blades tonight.

Here's to you, Kev.

Has received far too much stick in my opinion. A lot of what's happened in the last 10 years has been out of his hands ie the Tevez saga and ched gate and when it comes to managers you would have said most of his appointments came with a decent pedigree and you would expect have at least done better than they did. Then you have all the play off finals, again Kev didn't have a lot of control over the results. He's stuck with the club and stuck his hand in his pocket despite what the haters say. Some of his critics need to get their heads out of their arses. Having a go at McCabe for pocketing money is a ridiculous notion frankly. SUFC is a business and has to make a profit, every facet of operation comes under scrutiny whether its signing players and their wages, what companies to subcontract catering too, extensions to BL or anything else. He got the prince on Board which was a masterstroke and is a obviously a decent businessman or he wouldn't be where he is in terms of personal wealth. Look at the likes of Coventry, Blackpool or Portsmouth who have all been Premier league teams in the last few years. Now all in div 4 being bled dry by owners of faceless corporations who don't give a shit about their clubs. We have a Chairman that has invested in the club, the ground, academy and the team. He cares. More than I imagine the tuna magnate across the city. McCabe would've walked away by now if he wanted to, I think he's here for the long haul which is more than I think chansiri will.

The anger when we spent millions on Beattie and Sharp was tangible....

And then get rid of both within two years..

It shows what a hopeless manager Robson was not to get anywhere with that strikeforce and I speak with no hindsight I said at the time on the 606 forum it was a "vanity appointment, aimed more at not embarrassing the club heireachy in front of other clubs board rooms after a decade of Warnock shooting his mouth off"

It has took us nearly a decade to begin the recovery interspersed with other kamikaze appointments such as Adams, Weir and Clough.

Thankfully we are on the right track, but Christ it's took us long enough.

Would choose McCabe ahead of any of the clueless short-term foreign owners that are destroying clubs at all levels. He deserves the success despite his mistakes and now it's time for the Prince to invest but with McCabe and his family in control.

Remember seeing Mr McCabe at Exeter away 6 years ago. What a Gentleman as well as a Blade. Kept the Club on the straight and narrow with a few mistakes along the way. Didn't need the Co-op to bail us out like our porcine neighbours. Hope he receives all the plaudits he deserves and makes a guest appearance on the pitch when the Trophy is handed over. Onward and upwards.

Whilst KM has made mistakes and let's be fair, there's been a few, he's never compromised the existence of the club. There's been times when we're skint, but he's never allowed the club to be in a position that threatens its very existence, unlike another club I could name close by.

Bills have always been paid and you only have to look around you to see what can happen to a club when the money runs out

He's taken a hell of a lot of criticism over the years, some of which has been deserved and he's held his hand up to, therefore it's only fair he should share in the success we've had this season

Sometimes and I mean sometimes, it is the better the devil you know and whilst one can argue that the grass is greener on the other side, sometimes it is, but very often it's not.

I'm not saying all hail Kevin McCabe, but we could do a lot worse

McCabe deserves a lot of credit. Football is a funny old business, in that it isn't really a business at all it's something else entirely, and seemingly sound appointments such as Adkins can turn out to be disasters.
I remember people saying at the end of last season that the club was 'rotten to the core', which is a phrase which gets thrown around a lot. Despite all our problems, and there were so many, in McCabe we at least had a Blade in charge, who has the best interests of the club at heart despite some awful decisions (Robson).
You only need to take a look at Coventry to see what rotten to the core really means.

I hesitate to give him too much praise as I think we should all wait to see what happens in the Championship, hopefully he and the board back Wilder to the hilt, because managers like this don't come around very often. Promises have been made before and never realised, but i'm generally very optimistic about the direction of the club. UTB!

McCabe may be a gentleman and a thoroughly nice bloke as well as a Blade, but the decline in the club has had his hallmark all over it. Since we dropped unceremoniously out of the top flight thanks to not equipping ourselves accordingly, every step backward has been him and him alone as the root cause. I hear it all on this circle jerk posting and yeah, there's loads of people who have been itching to spoon syrup on the shit now we have finally slam dunked this fucking division, to hail people 'haters' is a little harsh. There's no 'hate' in highlighting the appointment of frankly shit managers and selling our better players. I'd call it realism, meself. None of us lot hired and fired Blackwell, Adams, Weir, Clough and Brian fucking Robson. None of us lot sold the Kyles, Quinny, McDonald, Blackman ... etc.

The only difference this season from the last ten years is that the start of the season squad resembles the finish of the season squad ... and it has improved because of the consistent ability of messers Wilder and Knill. The JTW came and went and we maintained the ability and because of the team management, improved as we went along. The confidence out on the pitch (where it counts) bled through onto the terraces. If there is any credit to McCabe it is in the fact that he hasn't flogged Sharp, Freeman, Lavery, Fleck or Coutts, to anyone watching, the backbone of this wonderful season. It shows what we can achieve when 'business' submits to 'ambition'. If he is to be congratulated on anything, it's for not torpedoing our own vessel mid-journey. Can any one of you 'lovers' deny that? Can anyone actually supply evidence that his appointments, their purchases, the sales of players has had one iota of positive motion on the club?

So, to today. I rejoice with the players, the manager, his team and you lot, the fans. I am chuffed to fucking fuck. We have done it, at last! Up the fucking Blades. But I offer simple thanks to McCabe for not fucking it up once again. I am with those who say 'let's not get too carried away'. I also demand he and the prince fulfil their promise now and invest in the club to keep up in the Championship. We all deserve that.

Now back the manager in the summer, I am pretty sure we will have already identified sensible targets, no penny pinching, we were assured last summer that significant further investment would materialise once we got back to the Championship.

Well we are there now and we haven't forgotten that statement.

The man said so himself , can't remember his exact words but he wasn't willing to back us like he did. After a decline he largely caused. It was only when the prince arrived we started to spend a decent bit of money. And somehow its the prince who gets questioned.
I'm not saying he's not a blade, nor am I saying he hasn't put any money in. I'm just not going to heap praise on the man who got us down here and without intervention could well have us lower.

Great response, Pinchy. You're a top comic and no mistake. Whenever you have fuck all to say (as generally is the case) just retort to being a schoolkid. Works every time.

Oh, and whatever that sketch has to do with me is anyone's guess, bar yours.
