FFS. Now we're losing players to Huddersfield.

Can't wait for another year of Taylor and Stewart battling for that position.

I'm one of few that try to remain optimistic on here but I'm finding it very difficult to remain that way at the moment.

Amen brother!

WHAT THE FUCK??? How on earth are we losing players to a very average league one club??? All these month namby pambying around offering him a contract, negotiations etc, then fucking Huddersfield steal him. This is beyond a joke. How on earth can he choose them over us? Money. That means we have been offering him absolute peanuts. Offer peanuts and you get monkeys (Taylor and Stewart).

I'm fucking furious that we have just let one of the best left backs in the league sign for a shit club! The only reason he has singed is because they obviously offered more £££. This is embaressing. We've offered him fuck all and he has singed for Huddersfield. Shit town, shit stadium, crap attendeces.

I agree with you!

WTF!!!!

12 months ago, United finished a season in which they had their best defensive record in 40 years.

12 months on, United have sold 3 of that back 5 and let another one walk away.

The lessons of last season's defensive instability would appear to be lost on the board. Well, either that or they just don't care, which increasingly seems to be the case.

If I were Warnock I'd be bidding for Morgan. There is no doubt in my mind that United would sell him for anything over half a million.

amen to that too brother.

what a fucking shambles. Absolute embarassment.

This is a big disappointment in my eyes, the thought of Dumb and Dumber as our only left backs at this time is a major concern.

Still, it's sunny out!

It's at times like this that I thank the lord for the brilliant PR and external communication from Bramall Lane. God bless that busy hive of information that is sufc.co.uk.

Our starting 11!

Askalu
France Morgan Taylor Stewart
Ward Montgomery Williamson Quinn
Bogdanovic Cresswell

Why are the board bothering lying to us! They should just be honest and say were aiming for a top half finish next season. Enough of this premiership bull!

"They should just be honest and say were aiming for a top half finish next season.."

We'll be lucky to get in the top half of the relegation zone the way we're going.

stop feckin flappin
he wasnt that good ,a sucker for anyone with pace and not that productive going forward ,didnt we drop him before he got injured ?
So far we havnt lost anybody that breaks my heart to see go or who cant be replaced

waht will piss me off is if BB predictions about the two kyles going to Weeds comes to be ,otheer than that its just another off season roller coaster ,Blades stylee

Really?? So you didn't see the very notable difference when he came in for Stewart or Taylor? Naysmith was an excellent full back for this division and the only time I ever remember him being done by pace was when he was clearly unfit under Robson.

No.

I venture to suggest that United's attempts to replace Naysmith last season were a failure. Taylor and Stewart are amongst our worst players.

Naysmith was Mr 7 out of 10. Not much good going forward, not the quickest, but very reliable, and does his job consistently well. We missed him last season and he would have made us better this season.

Position wise, that's one step up from saying, "paddy wasn't that good, plus, we've got that Baxter lad as back up".

Dont know where you sit mate but from block F and previously G and H in the south stand we get a first rate view of our full backs play
He was often taken to the cleaners pace wise not only by wingers but with his lack of pace to get back when he had ventured up .
Mty mates favourite call was "for f*ck sake Naysmith get back and cover"
for your information Bromby was piss poor too at full back ,you could often see the whole of that end of the south stand rocking backwards and forwards with him as he rocked on his heels trying to decide when to attack the ball

Naysmith played what ?2 or 3 game last season no great loss in my book ,31 year old and crocked

We looked much better in defence when he did play and that just confirmed his worth to me.

Steady, but old, slow, small, injury prone and was on big wages. I don't think it would be difficult to replace him with someone younger who can give us more. I think giving Naysmith another two years contract would have been a big gamble and applaud Birch's decision to offer him a performance related deal.

The important thing will be who we'll bring in.

To be fair to Naysmith he really came good during the play off season. His was dubious at times, but had oodles of experience and looked solid.

Shame to see him go, shame that we couldn't offer him a decent deal compared to a 3rd div club, but he wasn't getting any younger and perhaps he wanted guaranteed 1st team football. I hope it means that we're bringing in a younger, faster, fitter fullback ,but i fear we're stuck with Taylor as first choice...

I'll make the point again: last season's debacle at left back would suggest that it is rather difficult for United to do this.

Not surprised he's gone, just surprised where he's gone.

Close to a million pa off the wage bill and although he was steady, I think he's one where the upside in terms of our budget probably, just, outweighs the downside of losing the player.

I'm in a tiny minority but I don't think Taylor's too bad. I agree with everyone on Stewart though so I think we need to bring a left back in, ideally someone quick, strong and hungry.

Don't think Lee Clark will last long at Huddersfield if they don't improve a lot on last season. They spent a lot on wages last season, scraped into the play offs and were abysmal when they played Millwall.

Yes, but then that is where to direct the criticism, not the rejection to give an old and injury prone player another fantastic pay deal. I'm fed up of United handing out huge wages to very average players playing rubbish football.

Which is fair enough, but in this division, Gary Naysmith is not a very average player.

Based on what we tried to replace him with last summer, we're not even paddling down shit creek anymore, got the fookin jet ski out to do it quicker, yes, big wages off the payroll which is fine, but a loss of another better than your average championship full back, any ideas who we can draft in to replace him?

Anyone of his age and recent injury record would be a fool to turn down a two-year deal.

How would people react if we gave a two-year deal to a player from another club who had managed two games last season? A big cheer or a loud chorus about lack of ambition from a management team who don't know what they are doing and more bad news from the Lane?

In this division there wasn't a single manager/chief executive who dared offering him a two year deal. If his fitness wasn't an issue I agree, he'd probably continue to do a steady job.

There was no shortage of people on here in 07/08/09 saying he was crap, useless, past it, too slow etc. That's without a year out of the game injured and having aged.

Had the boot been on the other foot, I think there would have been no shortage of people moaning he's past it, a crock and another waste of money.

Nothing to see here. We were told the wage bill was not sustainable, so the higher earners who could be got shot of have been. Chedwyn Chedwyn you are next, Chedwyn, you are next.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!
It's all gravy.

We have done the same as those who gambled all to get to the promised land and stayed there for only one season before sinking fast....with only one slight difference......we didn't get promoted! We were told this would never happen to us as we were a very well run business. PAH!!

Sadly, no club on the planet will take Chedwyn for the wages he's on.
I'm liking how well run we are though. Tremendous management to achieve so much with a £50m debt that would be £70m without Tevez.
How did McCabe ever become a successful businessman?

neigh...........smith is no big loss BUT Billy boy an Wardy two different fish, word is Billy is off soon and Wardy before Christmas, Paddy to me can be replaced with better BUT is McCabe skint ?
