I know Wilder supposedly left by mutual consent, but I think we can be sure he at least jumped rather than being pushed.
So how many United managers genuinely resigned rather than being sacked or pushed into leaving by 'mutual consent'? Since I started following United in 1980, I'd say there is Howard Kendall (to return to Everton), Nigel Spackman (unique in that he resigned in protest at decisions taken by the Board rather than leave for another job), Steve Bruce (to go to Huddersfield), Gary Speed (for Wales) and possibly Chris Wilder first time round. Not sure if there are any others?

Unfortunately Reg Freeman died.
Mercer left for Villa.
Harris "went upstairs" twice
Rowley, Furphy, Sirrel, Porterfield, McEwan and Heath were sacked
Peters and Bassett resigned.
Kendall left for Everton, Bruce left for Huddersfield.
Warnock's contract had run out.

Surely Bassett was pushed out though, it was clear the club wanted a change?

John Harris first stint
John Harris resigned when United sold Mick Jones.
He was talked into coming back.
Dick Wragg apoligized when they got the bid for Birchenall and said they would never have sold Jones if they had known.
THEY WENT DOWN because of it.
They make the same mistakes and perpetually suffer for it these last fifty years and counting.
That being said
IF they had signed Frank Worthington as I wanted the attack of Woody Currie Worthington and Salmons with Billy D and Gil Reece as backup (NOT that you needed it then before 'the science') they would surely have won something like a Cup although the closest was 4 points behind in the League with McWhotsit manager and Derby when we surely would have won - although we did sell Salmons as per usual before that.
The one Unitedite strain in my immediate family bloodline one Uncle stopped going after they sold Jones
His son my cousin stopped going when we sold Currie.
It will be a MAJOR test of this ownership whether Peck Blaster Brookes Seriki the last of an incredible collection that the imbecile Wilder has not discarded, stay.
