Interesting comments there if these are true. Logically i can understand if this were true, He is a key player for us and he knows it, we are currently looking good for a playoff spot, so the doubt in his mind is probably

"Do i stay with a team who have a chance of premiership football next season, a club where i am adored by the fans, or do i move to a small premiership club who in all fairness are odds on for relegation back to this league next season. hmmmmmmmmmmm"

One thing that has been brought to my attention by a colleague is that BT has a sell-on clause within his contract from everton of 25%. This is apparently a standard T&C from everton with any players they sell, which if correct means that we wouldnt be getting the money that we think anyway.

It is a puzzler indeed

Well If I were Beattie Id stay put and see if Newcastle or Blackburn make a move.

I came on at dinner expecting to see a flurry of news... but so far, nothing.

Is no news good news?

Id say no news is good news.

Rather it be cleared up soon though.

Henderson seems to think we will be alright if Beattie does go. Not sure I agree with him to be honest.

I thought he'd be off by now. I suspect that we're tying up the deal for the replacement that Mr McCabe mentioned, so that the club can say 'yes, Beattie's gone - but look! Look! A new striker to replace him!'

I really hope its Lita or Kitson.

If it is anyone else I will be seriously be pissed off.

Cresswell anyone? urgh.

McCabe mentioned players (plural). Given our lack of bench strength in midfield perhaps we are to get their number 1 benchwarmer back - Mr Tonge!!

Glenn Whelan anyone? ;)

The Star say's blackburn are eyeing BT, i heard this in the earl of arundel before all this with stoke happend and the money being talked about was £6m, but i reckon blackburns interest all depends on how much they can get for santa cruz, also today The Sun was reporting that Lita doesnt want to go any where but wants to help Reading win promotion.. It all seems to me to be just a transfer merry go round and we wont actually know owt till the transfers actually go through, and us fans will be the last to know as usual!!

Never a truer word spoken mt friend

This is on blades website... Nothing has changed since the weekend and James is still a Sheffield United player. He trained with us this morning and has now gone home.

"Things have been more than a little unsettling for him over the past few days - he is a human being - and his head is a bit mixed up at the moment, so he will not travel with us."

Ahh mr blackwell the excuses make me laugh, is'nt a player who has a bug ment to stay away from training incase it is passed on to other players, and poor BT his head must be all messed up having to work out who he's goin to get his next big and last payday off, a dillema i wouldn't want (not). Henderson played saturday after rushing his 10mnth old son to intensive care, he seemed to be in the right frame of mind and he's human the last time i checked.. (credit to hendo) So i think it's about time this soap opera was put to bed and Bt and the blades made there mind up where he's going! (we all know he's going to go in the end)

Maybe Beattie is actually happy here and is probably abit cheesed off we are trying to force him out the door to save a few £££.

When we have so much deadwood that should be offloaded really.

That's the rumour I'd heard anyway...

I heard Beattie has rejected Stoke and is signing for Blyth Spartans. :)

Watching SSN noticed how Blackie avoided the question:
"Does Beattie want to leave?"
By answering indirectly:
"James loves it here"

...Read much into it? It wouldn't be hard for him to have said "No! James loves it here"

McCabe also said "it also depends what the player wants" on saturday a couple of times.

Some stoke sources are saying he'll sign for them tomorrow. They say no-one is coming in the Blades direction and the fee is still £2.5mil.

Can't see it though, we have already supposedly turned that offer down.

If he goes for £2.5mil then someone needs shooting.

Dave Kemp (Stoke assistant) apparently just said on Talksport - "We'll hopefully have something to announce in the the near future"

A couple of people are saying that Beattie is at the ground also..... Then again, they said that on thursday and friday!

£2.5M & no-one coming our way? If true then thats a total discrace!

I wonder if Beattie felt that he had been back into a corner by the Club? And has no option but to sign for them?

Players have ultimate power. There's no way he'd feel he had no option.

Blackie just been on 5-live, but nothing new really mentioned.... Here's a quick summary:

hates transfer window, its wrong, should be able to run business collectedly and throughout the season.

Simon Jordan agrees, thinks its similar to a restriction of trade.

Panic Buying/Selling.

All panel on 5 live (Claridge, SImon Jordan and Motty) agree its a half baked ideal, stupid prices, pressure etc.

He always thinks championship is tough, normally get 2 or 3 clubs then 6 or 7 for playoffs. Makes an exciting league. Look at where we are, we wanted to be in that and in a position to move on from there. Wants to keep focus, don't panic and drive on.

Speed, Ugo and Geary = career threatening injuries... only speedo has a chance this season.

Things have changed in terms of what he needs, has to be prudent. Culled squad to about 22?

Simon Jordan jokes Kevin can relax due to McCabe and the West Ham payment.

Didn't expect to keep Beatts in summer. Doesn't know, situation very fluid. Beattie is always going to attract clubs due to his
name and goals.

Ideally Hendo is a straight replacement for Beattie in terms of style, Beatts head not quite right, left him at home.

Hendo top class, we have to plan ahead as we did with Hendo who was there for when Beatts was injured.
