CLUB PORTFOLIO FURTHER ENHANCED

As part of our ongoing long-term strategy to enhance the club's infrastructure, United can confirm another significant step forward in our off the field plans.

After two areas on the Bramall Lane footprint became available on the market, the club moved swiftly to purchase Boundary Corner, situated on the corner of Cherry Street and Shoreham Street, as well as Cutlers Corner, positioned on the corner of John Street and Shoreham Street.

The purchase of both strips of land ensures that everything on the Bramall Lane site will be together again under the Sheffield United umbrella.

United's chief executive officer, Stephen Bettis, said: "This is more fantastic news for the club and another positive move as we look to improve all areas of our current infrastructure.

"It has been a long-standing ambition for Prince Abdullah and the board for the club to own all areas of the stadium, and whilst we have had to be patient, this announcement gives the club further scope to improve the Bramall Lane site.

"Naturally, when the land became available, our first thought was to quickly secure the sites to join up all areas of Bramall Lane which is now back fully under the club's stewardship.

"In terms of the long-term plans, there are many possibilities available to us and conversations will take place shortly to decide how we best utilise this exciting opportunity to further develop the ground.

"Following the other hugely important infrastructure announcements, this is again another example of a long-term legacy from the funds generated by being in the Premier League."

The news comes just weeks after the club confirmed the significant redevelopment of the hotel on Bramall Lane, which is currently well underway, and the purchase of land at the HSBC Sports & Social site for a new first team training ground.

No it's not. Brought the two scraps that McCabe still had left over lost court case. Hardly the most exciting of news and doubtful much comes of it anytime soon but it's better to belong to the club to do something with it than anyone else

In the past, I have blamed the Prince for not pushing the boat out and buying the parcels of land. (Rather than blaming McCabe for not selling them).

So, I view this as a really positive move by the Prince.

Agreed. He’s doing the right things off the pitch, currently. Maybe some investors have told him to James Milner our assets and shore things up?

Disagree. Those two areas of land are crucial to the future development of the ground.
It will not be this year nor next but the opportunity is now there for the future.
Te possibility remains to commercially develop the Cherry Street corner to produce capital and or income.

You have got to think that the advisers recently taken on, (can't remember who they were?) have recommended getting the club "fitter" for sale so obtain a site for a Cat 1 Academy, (tick) get the Hotel open again, (tick) and own every square inch of the site, (tick).

Just got to try and convince Tui that Donny airport is viable now.....

Think getting that land back is crucial to any future ground developments. Pretty sure I read at one point that the Kop expansion we had planning permission for years ago would have strayed onto that corner plot which was one of the reasons we didn't move forward with it.

Lazard I think was the name of the advisors.

This is exactly what I was going to write. I think Prince et al have been advised to tie up loose ends to make us more attractive for perspective buyers.

Well I hope so anyway!

As others have said it's more likely to be getting ducks in order rather than any medium or long term plans. Danny hall thinks a fan park could be put there but that's hardly a major money spinner

The Prince's strategy in the past 18 months has been securing assets that will have steady and consistent valuation, as aposed to investment in player assets which are extremely volatile and have no guarentee of a return on investment.

Indirect way of tieing up Premier League money into a higher value saleable asset for him.

He’s a bit slowly, slowly catchy monkey with the investments and he’s cost us 2 points next season as well, but something positive about owning all the ground, land around the ground, training ground and future training ground.

That will be lf benefit for years to come.

Far better than paying rent all the time to a Chancer.

Whatever that means. The statement is blank 😆

Here we go, working now:

As RowT says
Boundary & Cutlers Corner never heard of'em & are they brothers?
Are they any good?? Anyone ITK?

So, imagine the meltdown if we'd just sold off those bits of land?

Paid just enough for McCabe to give him back, when he re-purchases the club in June.

And I have already requested (in some consultation) SuperTram is extended to the airport and further, through Rotherham Mexborough and Donny.
