Lets says Ajax offer 25 million, are you saying we should offer 30 million, just because we should support Hecky?

Seems like our valuation was £8 million, Lens offered £12 million and Ajax offered £10 million, for some reason the Lens deal fell through.
You could easily argue in order to support Hecky we should up the offer to £10 million, seems reasonable enough, it's only 2 million.

However the sticking point for me is the 5 year contract, surely at Akpom age, that's madness on the part of Ajax.
Also let's be realistic, if our offer is similar to the Ajax offer then surely he'll choose Ajax, so we need to substantially beat the Ajax offer.
His family live in London, so weirdly Amsterdam to London is the same distance as Sheffield to London.

Also if you speak to Boro fans they can't believe his transformation, they say he was rubbish 2 seasons ago.
He also struggled to score in a weak-ish Greek league, so last season success was a shock.

He's definitely a risk and could easily be a one season wonder.

Things should be fine. There's a list of 1st choice targets, 2nd choice targets and even 3rd choice contingency targets, just incase everything goes pear shaped.

Obviously any good owner tries to acquire all the 1st choice targets but it's common sense, if another bidding club is also desperate
then do you let emotion rule your head and get involved in a bidding war, so you end up paying more than the valuation.

It's a sign of a being a well run club that we've gone to the limit....then backed out.

Think of it like bidding for a car on Ebay..
You're the biggest bidder and you're all excited about your new car, it looks a bargain.
Then the day before the auction ends someone else beats your bid.....so you increase you bid.....they increase theres.
It's now becoming expensive...so you increase your bid one final time.....they increase their big over the valuation...it's now far from a bargain.
