Well, if I remember rightly, that's what someone who doesn't want Wilder to be United manager said. Of course, there could be no bias there...As far as I know, Sunjihi just gives out his information and doesn't really offer any opinions on anything.

I said it. Others may have too. And no, I don’t want him to be our manager but that has no bearing on why I said it. I said it because I had a conversation at Rochdale with the wife of a mate of his. I was told then that he had said something along the lines of he wouldn’t touch us with a barge pole and that he sees the job as a poisoned chalice. Can’t guarantee it’s true or that it’s still the case as it’s gone through a couple of people to get to me but it’s what I was told.

In the event Adkins got the chop, I would have no particular objection to Wilder. I think he’s as decent a recruit as anyone else we’d be likely to get. I just think our approach of sacking managers before they’ve had the chance to put their own mark on the team is extremely counter-productive. Especially when it’s the most proven manager we’ve appointed in many years.

Pete , I have got to say yet again your logic is absolutely spot on. Like it and correct.

Disagree as he also overlooked that in that scenario we would also re-sign Baxter, J. Wallace, McFadzean, Cuvelier and Kennedy all on 4 year deals whilst spending what’s left of the budget on bringing back Collins and Doyle.

Could reach agreement with Charlton. Apparently he wanted Hammond, Sammon and Burn's as his first signings!

See what I did there BusheyBlade ? Does it hurt, is it driving you wild? ;):)

Man City!

Damn you Blade56 :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

He'd probably be more upset with his name being Burn...no "s". Probably feels like Michael Tongue.

Not for me. Smacks of a Mickey Bladey-Blade Adams type of appointment. Plus, we still have a manager as I understand it.

not in the slightest
totally different people

what he achieved at Northampton at a club on the verge of bankruptcy is amazing
working with players who werent getting paid and still getting winning performances
Wilders got something about him

after working with Northampton what he gets here will seem like a kings ransom

If he comes here I'll back him although I'd much rather have Adkins. I don't think it would be a good idea to give someone their biggest job here given how much pressure they will be under. Remember when Adams was surprised at how much work it would involve when he came from Port Vale?

Be a great appointment. I can't see CW allowing the shite we've seen under NA. Hopefully get a team playing with some commitment and pride. His knowledge of up and coming players should also be helpful as opposed to NA offering his old has beens a last pay day.

hes not going to charlton just seen that the deal fell through but same source has said that some interest from us has also happened not sure how much interest from us is there but since the charlton deal has fallen through hes definately not going there

They say they love the club, the supporters, the atmosphere..

Tell the truth.

They love the money.

Ask any manager how much they love the club they manage and then ask them to do it for the love.

92 clubs looking for managers.

So exactly the same job Micky Adams did at Leicester then?

If Wilder hadn't played for us about fifteen years ago nobody would want him. He's a nobody with a bang average history as a manager. He might have known "the club" back when he played for us, but things have changed. We need success next season and I don't see why he's suddenly the best man to provide that.

I'd rather stick with Adkins or go for Turkish Keegan than plump for Micky Adams mk II.

Remove the United connection.

Would you want him over Adkins?

So we allus go for a manager that is on the way down, like the players we recruit, cos we beleive we are too big a club, whereas this lad has served his apprenticeship in the lower leagues and proven he can do it at that level at clubs like Oxford and Northampton - no mean feat that. The fact that Charlton were considering him should mean summat - they are not a small club.

Wigan took a chance on Jimmy Jewell and that worked out quite well.

Bournemouth tried Eddie Howe and he was above average

Chris Powell at Charlton is another

he's a wednesdayite btw

He may well be a S6 , but the way I am feeling at the moment I couldn't care a fuck who he supports .

Now that Paul Carrick who wears a hat because of his bald head , well that's a different story .

Gene Wilder in the running for Blade manager . He has 2 back room staff . Bring in the 3 omegoes.

Can't make it up at the land.

Is 48 the new young, up and coming?
And does managing in the league below count as knowing the league?

Less then three years younger than our Nige. Wilder best watch out, he could pass from 'Young and up and coming' to 'past it' in record time if he takes the job here.

I can definitely see the positives for Wilder as manager and if Adkins quit then I'd support going for Wilder. BUT we have a manager who is on a decent contract.

So if we add up the compensation we'd have to pay Northampton and Adkins, what we talking? £500k minimum? I'm just guessing, but it's gotta be decent money at league one level.

I just don't see Wilder as much of an improvement on Adkins (if any at all) so I'd rather we spend the money on the team rather that a new manager.

There's 2 other wilder threads. I think this one should be deleted. :)
