This club just does not fucking learn. If they want rid of Adkins, sack him a few weeks ago, get someone new in, let him see the shit he's dealing with and let the new man do the retained list, identify targets and spend the summer bringing them in. If we sack Adkins half way through or after the retained list, might as well write next season off and get the P45 of Wilder or whoever's replacing him written up now.

who is Richard Cawley?

That's extremely embarrassing for the club to publicly admit it hasn't been able to get its main managerial appointment. It's already well-established that they're in a right state – this just adds fuel to the fire.

Charlton waiting to talk to a bloke called Adkins according to Reuters.

Hmmm... Sunjihi perculier coded "jaws" quote could mean something different, everybody assumed the captain meant mceverly... The captain of the ship might mean the one in charge...so what creates a charge......energy....what creates energy..... That's right heat......

The captain is the one in charge....charge creates energy...energy creates heat...heat leads to fire.....that's right Adkins has been fired....

I know I'll end up with dusty bin though.....young uns need not reply..:D

The Sheffield United Effect. (We should patent that!)

He would also be sacked following said season, and disappear into the ether, never to be heard from again, putting a stop to a once potentially promising career.

Out of the managers since Warnock, none have gone on to achieve anything in management.

I can't think of any. (Clough aside who finished the Hasslebank job with burton.....despite even his best efforts of trying to aim them out of the automatic places and towards the play offs).

2016 Chris Wilder joins United . 2017 Chris Wilder leaves United and opens two shops at Sheffield Lane Top and Gleadless Town End selling tropical fish . Morale of story - never manage that fucked up club Sheffield United.

Is there a bit of 2+2=5 here though? Reading this guy's tweets, he seems to be suggesting Adkins may be on his way based on the Wilder to Charlton deal falling through, nothing else specifically.

To be fair, if Wilder is ambitious and is looking for a succesful season, the targets he has for League One at Notthampton might be just as applicable to SUFC. They've pissed the league, he's had time on his side to evaluate who would be good additions for a succesful League One campaign.

We don't have to pay over the odds just because we are a big club at this level. Plus he will know which players are too good to remain in League Two. Certainly more scope for imagination than Adkins' signing out of favour players from the league above.
