What makes you say we have the stature and set up to get back ? The 'set up' is the same one that's seen us in this division for 6 years...deckchair, Titanic and all that.

Gross mismanagement got us here and the same man is at the helm, the one who said Europe in 5 years not division one for 5 years. I don't doubt hes spent millions but so did Michael Carroll when he won 10m on the lottery but that didn't make him a genius !

His heart's not in it anymore and that's understandable given what he's been through and where we are but he won't sell up as he's a property man and his value of the club is based on property values not what the club is worth as a going concern . This means we are stuck in this situation until he either lowers his price or someone is foolish enough to pay it .

Don't have a problem that you think that way.

It's all about opinions.

You're saying McCabe shouldn't have to shell out then telling embarrassed fans to not go. Where would make our money in your world?
If every Blade who was embarrassed about our current situation didn't go we'd have 1k gates and fold within a year.

Stupid comment.

It's all about opinions - but thanks for lowering the tone with the word stupid - it shows you can't debate.

really , on which planet does a 10 goal a season league one player attract 2 million
bradley dack scored double that and no ones offered the 2 m they are asking
The planet of every other club in football. He's our player and has a hell of a lot of potential. Any buyer has to pay for that, not just what he's got at the moment.

You sound like one of the morons that thought £3m for Kyle Walker was a great deal and offered to drive him to Tottenham yourself.

Would you sell Adams for 1m?

I wouldn't sell Adams . I would off load Done , McNulty and bring in Clarke with Hanson or Pope .

Adams is unpredictable and the right amount of money will not be tabled IMO unless Bournemouth do a bid of £2m>. His worth is rising by the day which started off around £500K.

It would be nice to get the players in before we get anybody out so clubs don't get the impression we are awash with brass.

Supply and demand. Adams has at least three Championship clubs interested in buying him. Plus rumours of Newcastle with their parachute payments and possibly Premiership clubs with their untold millions.

If you've got a desirable property to sell and rival bidders, you don't need to compromise on your valuation.

what the difference was was that Kyle performed in the championship
at that time 3m was a grat price for him
no point looking at todays grossly inflated prices

well the highest bid has been half of the stars valuation
like offering a house in heeley worth 85k for 200k , it might be desirable , but not at a daft price

Hey hang on there this club doesn't do sense, when have we ever worked that way? We always sell then promise to replace the sold player which then never really happens unless you are happy with mediocre which by the looks of it many Blades fans are. As usual we will be scratching around for players on the closing day of the transfer window and just failing to "get it over the line". Anyone else believe last nights bollocks was just the club conditioning the fans to the inevitable sale of one of our best players?

I don't get that anology but I once shagged a bird when I was 20 that had a great figure and was single now she's 43 years old got 3 kids to different dads and is about to have a gastric band !

Signing players BEFORE selling Adams is indeed the way to go. After selling him we'd be quoted about an extra 25% for any potential signings.

We should be getting on with signing these players ASAP - because it's obvious that ultimately, we will be able to sell Adams for decent money, such is the number of clubs interested in him.

Signing those players would take time, so we'd hang onto Adams longer before selling. This could have the additional bonus of getting a bigger fee for him, as there'd be more time for interest to build and bidding wars to develop.

We lost 2-0 to relegated Halifax from Tier whatever it is in the league pyramid and some of you want to sell one of our better players for £1.4m! Unbelievable. People who went to the game v Halifax said we looked weak on the left wing and others have said we need a winger. Adams self confessed favourite position is left wing. Why not try him in the team - he adds goal threat. Goals win games. Winning games gets you promoted.
We need to be buying the likes of Leon Clarke as well as keeping Adams simple.

Adams is just getting better and better this close season, isn't he?

It's an absolute travesty that someone of such talent and dynamism didn't fire us to the top last season isn't it?

We were so much better when he was in the team. Never let us down; Never went missing.

We must hang onto him at all costs rather than getting rid and substantially improving the team overall. Never mind if the manager thinks it's the right thing to do. I'll blame the board if he goes.

It’s been red hot these last couple of days. Much more likely to be Maguire sun stroke.

A story made up by Harry and his agent to justify refusing to play in a pre/season game and securing a move. Just in case anyone was thinking of blaming our club, remote possibility though that may be...

Yes, but if I recall you last season were championing a website's claims that had Connor Sammon's value as twice Bradley Dack's. Presumably Gillingham are continuing to reject bids of £0 for Dack based on Sammon's most recent value.

No point looking at today's grossly inflated prices?! That's how it is now! No point in us trying to compete then is there? Let's just pretend it's still 2003 and drop further and further behind in the world of football.
Utter nonsense.

Even in 2009's prices, £3m (about £3.7m today) was not a good deal for Kyle Walker. England's best right back.

substantially improving the team overall.

That's the key thing though isn't it really? Will the money go towards that? If so I'm not the bothered about Adams I am not that impressed with what I've seen.

If that money goes towards meeting Brayfords wages and completing the paying off of Hammond and Woolford then different story.

I'm assuming that any sale will be with Tufty's blessing. Perhaps I'm wrong but there are no signs that Che is a particular favourite and he seems like a manager who would say something if he was being undermined (he certainly did at N'ton). If so, there's a reasonable inference that he's getting enough of the dosh to satisfy him that it's the right thing to do?

No it wasn't but £5m for Naughton certainly was and we couldn't have one without the other. I'm not saying it was a good deal but a bit of balance does no harm.

Exactly.

It's about time we started eyeing up some of the daft amounts of cash being spent at the moment if we are to sell the likes of Adams. We are in an age where most of the clubs in the leagues above us can dip into their pockets a further.

Probably go for around 1mill, but there will be add-ons, based on appearances, promotions, that sort of deal. Maybe even more money for international recognition.
And of course any sell fee. Imo.

That is the sort of stuff other clubs include when they sell their youngsters. We like to be different.

Unfortunately bladesman, that's true, but for what it's worth, this time, I think we've actually got a plan in place,( don't as me what that is, I hav'nt got a clue). But historically in the past, Adams would have already gone, this time for some reason, he is still here. Maybe he is staying if we don't get the right deal. But I believe this time, if indeed he does go, it will be on our terms, and the right deal for us.

in 5 years be about the same its only 1 a year
hard to ascertain with so many undisclosed fees

What? I have no idea what you are even saying now. Are you speaking English?

Players sold during Wilson’s reign (based on reported figures)

Slew £1million

Lowton £3million

Blackman £1.1 million

TOTAL £5.1 million.

Plus there were a few small undisclosed fees such as S. Quinn etc.

What is this 5 years you speak of? Wilson was here for less than 2 years. During that time, those players were sold. You say he was given money. Who did he sign that added up to that sort of money?
