Outgoing? Che Adams

The guy posting on WAB has named two or three other players and sure enough on research Che is with the same Footballing Agency.

I'm not sure why he would go to all of that trouble unless he had some information.

He also mentions a transfer trigger amount of £1.6M with 25% going to Ilkeston.

Given Adkins let slip there are "one or two things going on" I think there's something in this.

I'm surprised at the clubs being mentioned but I doubt he'll remain with us given our acknowledged SCMP issues and the need to reduce the squad.

Unfortunately, it's where we are until we can offload in the summer.

When we signed Che we deliberately put him on an youth contract for 12 months. This means that even though he now a full pro, due to his age he does not count under SCMP.

I know he doesn't. But he is one of the few that has value to produce money. Increasing turnover can also ease SCMP.

United will almost certainly go for paid transfers. They will find it very difficult to move some of the others on.

Don't think for a second Che will go this month. He doesn't need to, first of all - he hasn't done enough to impress the big hitters as of yet and he hasn't proved himself enough at League One level. Genuinely think we will hold onto him. IF we go up this year he will stay if not he will go in the summer... really think he will fulfil his potential - haven't seen anyone who has the power & pace that he has in a long time along with the ability to calmly finish. UTB!

I agree he's a natural finisher but doesn't use his strength and pace (questionable but best we've got) to make him the complete package. Che has got to prove his talent to the club, the fans and himself if he wants to follow the likes of Vardey and Deli Ali.

Id happily see him go if it meant we could bring in the necessary players to get us up.

Che for promotion that will do.

The Sun reporting that Man City are weighing up a bid for Adams.

To be fair, it is the Sun...

If we put a £1.6m release clause in his contract, then fuck me. Wouldn't surprise me if there is a lot of interest in him in that case. £1.6m is nothing to some clubs. I don't even think he's worth that but if a lot of clubs are interested we could inevitably get more.

£3m, means to me I'd be pushing for £4m, Spurs also showed interest last season, plus that's small change to City. Realistically we'd take £2m and a loanee who would get recalled.

£3.5-4m could mean a proper chance to strengthen with quality for promotion. Be strong Board

He may not have done a lot but if there is any talent which has a decent chance of making the grade, then the big clubs will snap them up. The big clubs paying £3/4 million up is nothing and something they wouldn't even class as a gamble if it didn't work out.

Good point! Plus we also have the Murphy money on top of that to strengthen....

If they offer 3million, definitely snatch their hands off.

That's a lot of money to be able to reinvest in the team, which I'm sure we will....

Never fails to amaze me how a player can become so poor in some fans eyes in just a few months. From the star of the show at the start of the season with his 2 goals against Chesterfield to not good enough and a write-off just 4 months later.

He's not had the blistering impact some expected, but he's still only 19, has a scoring record of 10 goals in 34 games for us (a fair amount of them appearances coming from the bench) and has shown at times flashes of real quality.

How about we back him rather then give up on him? We could have a real star on our hands. It seems he has one or two issues with attitude as evidenced with his red card and his misdemeanours earlier in the season but he is just a 19 year old who has suddenly been thrust in the spotlight. He's bound to be still finding his way and as Adkins has continually said it is part of his role as manager to help guide him through this time.

Also, it's not Che's fault that he has been seen as our replacement for Murphy. He's a different player to Murphy and isn't as good as Murphy is currently either. He should be back up still this season IMO to both our strikers and wingers and used sparingly, not to the amount he has been used but you have our board and manager to thank for that.

I for one will be gutted if we sell him this transfer window. He's off form at the moment yes, but he has shown at times in his 14 months with us that he has some real potential and has the ability to excite a crowd.

IF, and it is a big IF, the money gets reinvested into new players, and we get £3M, we should ask for the lot up front (Prem clubs can afford it), not in dribs and drabs. Imagine being able to buy 6 players at 500k each in League 1 in January!

Don't get me wrong, I would prefer we don't sell, but if we do, then the above.

Also, I couldn't give a fuck whatever the sum was, even if it was £10 million I wouldn't want us to sell him because it won't get reinvested in the team.

Following-on from my "let's pay off the dead-wood and de-clutter" post on another thread , this is the problem :

The board have quite rightly been whinging-on at NA to slim-down the squad.
NA hasn't come out and stated to the board which players he wants to move-on or (as radical as it sounds) pay-off , using the bonus FA Cup cash ("they're all hard-working professionals").
If NA won't tell the board which of the ones whose contracts are up in June are the "dead-men walking" TODAY , the board are going to get fed-up of asking him , and start making their own decisions (God help us !)

So the board have a look at the recent teamsheets and see that Adams isn't starting.
"My goodness" , they say to themselves , "here's a few £m that isn't even in the first eleven !"
And true to their history , the cash-hungry board , who can't see beyond the end of their noses (because they're still getting 20,000 crowds so WTF ?) cave-in at the first whiff of cash.

Our transfer-dealings become entirely REACTIVE instead of being PROACTIVE , because NA won't nail his colours to the mast and at least give the impression to the board that :
A) he knows who is is best 11 and best 18 ; and
B) he knows who he would immediately and decisively jettison , if he could pay them off today.

So the 2 owners who aren't even in the UK are not "well-managed" by NA and when they get an offer for any of our better players (who are naturally worth £money) they can say :
"Well , we can't keep paying 43 professionals............and NA never really told us who he wanted to get rid of ......nor did he tell us who we absolutely must NOT get rid of...........so we just got rid of the players for whom we had an offer ..............sorry fans , what else were we supposed to do ?

Is Adams part of NA's plans or not ?
Is Baxter part of NA's plans or not ?
Is Collins part of NA's plans or not ?
Is McEveley really a captain, with his immature tackles , or does NA have the balls to change it to Brayford ?
Is Reed part of NA's plans or not ?
I could go on and on - but the gist is that NA appears to be indecisive about most of the squad.

And this would be OK - to roll along rudderless till June - if it were not for the fact that NA keeps saying he wants to achieve promotion NOW - RIGHT NOW , if not before !

Nigel , you will never get a winning team/squad , let alone promotion , until you act more decisively and give the board some confidence in your strategy.
If I was your Chairman or Chief Exec , I would be tearing my hair out !
