Che Adams

We have wanted someone with attitude and swagger . Looks like we have found him. All positive.

As pompey , quite rightly says , lets hope he is not a flash in the pan. If he was i don't think Mr Clough would put Adams above Diego in the pecking order.

Hats off to Mr Clough Brother for finding him , club getting him , before anybody else.

I wouldn't praise Simon Clough that much as he doesn't appear to venture far from his Newsagents shop looking for talent if Ilkeston is anything to go by!

Anyone else thinks he looks like Ronaldo. Before Ronaldo looked like this anyway.

Forgive me for this but the first was Thierry Henry esque way he opened up his body. Bloody lovely.

Few more of those in the run in please Ché.

As I wasn't at the game I wondered what any of you lot thought of him, goals apart.

Loved the first goal, huge amount of reactive composure in having to adjust his body shape and measure his shot.
Loved it. It was a total premiership quality quality finish. McNulty could learn a thing or two about composure and first touch by watching that. Even his second, I may be wrong but if you see his placement of it, it may have been going in the opposite corner had it not been deflected.

I loved Cloughs post match comment... "He needs to learn not to celebrate in the corner when we need a second goal" very much a Brian Clough comment. The lad scores his first goal in a semi final, in front of 30,000 fans and celebrates instinctively, only for his manager to bring him back down to earth.

Onto Che, to be fair he didn't see the ball that much to see him take on Walker, but there was a straight sprint with Walker and Che looked to have him for pace as he slowed up. Classy touch to him and that finish on the first was top class. Cool, calm and just slotted it
Heard that. Then I saw the Tele highlights and noticed Higdon went and got the ball straight out of the net and gave Che the benefit of the doubt because he seemed so cool.

Cheers boo, yes, it did have that dash of top shelf quality about it, which is why I was so surprised at the technical awareness Adams' showed. It might be tempting fate, and given where we are the reasons for investing in a goalscorer are self-evident, but we could possibly have the seeds of an attacking threat on the cusp of making an impact. Adams, Diego, and McNulty all suggest that there's promise. I've left out Higdon as his forte appears to be as an enabler rather than a dependable source of goals. And before anyone suggests it's early days, of course it is, but you have to begin making a judgement at some point. If we do sign someone like Doyle, at least this season's chances of promotion are raised dramatically.

Having just watched the goals again, I leapt out of my (office) seat when the second one went in. Very strange to still excited, even I know that it was ultimately futile. I'm still the same whenever I see Alan Cork's goal at Wembley. You'd think I'd want to avoid any memory of that day but if I see a clip of it, nearly 22 years on, I'm still shouting "Go on, Corky, lad... Run... GO ON.... YYY.... YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! GET IN, GET IN, GET IN!!!!!!" and jumping in the air like an utter loon. Football is so weird.

The most encouraging thing about him is he seems to be able to hit a ball hard low and on target, some thing that both McNulty and Scougall seem to find great difficulty in achieving ..

Not seen much of the lad. First one a very classy finish. But where do people think he will end up playing winger/striker/withdrawn striker?

Good and bad today ,very strong ,fast with the ball and great first touch. He definitely needs to add to his concentration ,was caught on his heels a few times ,but that will come. Also his awareness and defensive positioning , he left Freeman isolated quite a lot ,but seemed to take on board advice from players without giving it attitude. Great find by Clough ,hope he can carry it on.

I thought he did pretty well today but given the pace he showed one-on-one with Walker the other night I thought there were a couple of occasions where he didn't seem to believe he had the speed to get to balls played through for him to chase. And there was one potential break second half when Scougall had the ball about forty yards out and Adams should have been bombing into the space down his outside but didn't make the run. If it had been the other way round you can bet Scougall would have made the run for him.

Overall, though, Adams is a fine prospect. That near miss first half was class.

Looks a natural finisher with a great touch. Long way to go, bags of potential, probably up to him how things pan out.

Young Marcus Bent anyone (looks rather than ability :)) ?

Reminds me a touch of Colin Kazim-Richards. In style of play anyway.
