As I wasn't at the game I wondered what any of you lot thought of him, goals apart.

Loved the first goal, huge amount of reactive composure in having to adjust his body shape and measure his shot.

Same as I thought against Southampton: raw, not going to offer much defensively, but very tidy on the ball, quick, strong and very very composed in and around the box. There was a moment after his goals where he kept an over-hit cross in play, looked up and played a smart pass back to the edge of the box, almost a carbon copy of when he set Doyle up for a shot in the quarter final.

Very encouraging start for the lad. Whatever happens in his career now, he'll never forget last night.

I loved Cloughs post match comment... "He needs to learn not to celebrate in the corner when we need a second goal" very much a Brian Clough comment. The lad scores his first goal in a semi final, in front of 30,000 fans and celebrates instinctively, only for his manager to bring him back down to earth.

Onto Che, to be fair he didn't see the ball that much to see him take on Walker, but there was a straight sprint with Walker and Che looked to have him for pace as he slowed up. Classy touch to him and that finish on the first was top class. Cool, calm and just slotted it

He coolness in both goals says to me he will be a natural goal scorer and will grow quickly. He hasn't impressed me up to last night when he stuck his figure up at my opinion and said Ju Suis Che Adams.

Need to nurture that tallent and tie it down with a long contract

Yes I think he could've been forgiven his celebrations considering his age and where he was two months ago! I noticed Jay was quick to drag him back to half way so we could go again.

Another thing to add, he plays with that swagger of a player who is very confident in his own ability, without coming across as cocky or thinking he's a world beater. It's easy to get carried away with an 18 year old bursting onto the scene in such fashion, but I really do like the look of him.

As long as he doesn't rape anyone, we're onto a winner here

Outstanding stuff from a player we only signed to troll Jean Hatchet.

Someone needs to start a rumour that Ched Evans is signing for Real Madrid.

As for Che he was top class last night and had that opportunity for the first goal been created by some of our other players I would have expected the shot to have gone wide.

He can only get better.

He looked intelligent on the ball but direct, and he can obviously finish. I loved how he celebrated the first goal, got an earful from McEveley for not just grabbing the ball so we could get on with it, then smashes another one in 2 minutes later! Looking back at the highlights it seems he didn't know how to react to that one. There's almost a look of 'Can I celebrate now???'

I enjoyed his interviews afterwards as well. He says that he heard the Spurs fans asking 'Who?!' and that he thinks he answered them. Jokes about being bollocked for the celebration, saying that he was glad Scougall was there so it wasn't just him. Comes across as very confident, I think there might be a swagger about him that I think this squad needs.

Imagine if Reed's shot had gone in and we held on. Our goals would have been 2 from an 18 year old signed from non-league and the winner from a 17 year old academy product who was our youngest ever player not 9 months ago. Too much to dream for in the end.

Heard him interviewed when he signed and last night, comes across as exactly the kind of young player you want in your squad, he knows he's in a privileged position and sounds like he'll make the most of it. Getting bombed out at Forest has made him appreciate it can all be taken away

Shit, did they play "Tom Hark" after the goals? I thought we'd dumped that cringeworthy tradition long ago.

Wicked deflection on the second goal. Top moment of the season so far though. Let's hope there's even better to come.

They did after the 2nd one, and it was crap, please don't re-introduce that garbage.

Our very own Gary Birtles?

I was watching him warming up/kicking in right in front of me before the game. Must admit, I didn't recognise him as I normally sit much further back for league games. I thought 'He looks a cocky little fucker.' Swagger, a bit of a smirk on his face. Now I see why. Have we unearthed yet another?

Hope so. I am praying this lad isn't a flash in the pan and we have someone we can exploit. His composure for both goals was outstanding. Had Reed squared to him instead of the 'bobble' I think Bramall Lane would still be full now of people chanting his name.

Great substitution.

ps mcEveley's face after the second is 'fuck me, we could do this!'

Second was a deflection?

We have wanted someone with attitude and swagger . Looks like we have found him. All positive.

As pompey , quite rightly says , lets hope he is not a flash in the pan. If he was i don't think Mr Clough would put Adams above Diego in the pecking order.

Hats off to Mr Clough Brother for finding him , club getting him , before anybody else.

Che Adams' old boss Kevin Wilson condemns 'DVD' scouts
By Simon Stone BBC Sport

The manager who discovered Sheffield United's Che Adams at non-league Ilkeston has criticised Football League clubs for "scouting by DVD".

Kevin Wilson spotted Adams, 18, at a trial in Leicester two years ago. He said managers should start searching the grass-roots for talent again.

"The aggressive scouting has gone out of the window now," he said.

Adams came off the bench to score twice in the League Cup semi-final with Tottenham at Bramall Lane.

It was only his fourth appearance for Sheffield United since Blades manager Nigel Clough gave him a two-year deal in November, after a £100,000-plus move from Ilkeston, who are pushing for promotion from the Evo-Stik League Premier Division.

Five current Premier League players with a non-league past
Charlie Austin

(Current club: QPR. Career started: Kintbury Rangers)

Chris Smalling

(Manchester United and Maidstone)

Ben Foster

(West Brom and Racing Club Warwick)

Dwight Gayle

(Crystal Palace and Stansted)

Ashley Williams

(Swansea and Hednesford)

"A lot of people look at DVDs instead of going out and having a look at the grass roots," said Wilson.

He added that "scouting by DVD takes the leg work out, but we are under 30% of players in the Premier League being English and we wonder why our game is deteriorating.

"There are still quite a few players out there now capable of coming through. They are just not getting their chance."

Adams is not the only player Wilson has found amongst the lower reaches of the game and then helped to cultivate their talent.

Kieran Wallace was a team-mate at Ilkeston before following Adams to Sheffield United and former Ilkeston winger Jake Mulraney left for Queens Park Rangers in December 2014.

Adams was discarded by Coventry before Wilson picked him up.

He then spent two years nurturing a player capable of operating at a much higher level than League One, where Sheffield United are currently.

"He can go all the way," said Wilson.

"I know he will be judged more when he is playing every game but the boy has got everything.

"He was always someone you could see could go on. He had the 'wow' factor.

"At one time I had 49 scouts and managers watching him. Sometimes they have to believe in their judgement.

"With Nigel helping him, I am sure Che can keep developing and in the end will prove to be a good buy."

I know Nigel said it tongue in cheek, but did he really expect this young kid to score his first goal for us, in front of a packed house in a major cup semi-final and then not celebrate just a bit ?. Besides he slid on his knees, got straight back up and walked off towards the centre circle. Any striker in the world would have been proud of that finish for his first goal. This lad is going to be some player of that I'm certain & a big hats of to the club for signing him.

That's how it goes, Bob. McNuts was at QPR, Diego's at Preston was. I wouldn't have minded in the slightest if Murph's early chance had been deflected in instead of being cleared off the line.
But you can't say it's an example of a great natural finisher.

Pllleeeaaaaaseeee it was a f***ing cracking goal. Eriksons deflected in off the post but no ones complaining

Watching Che's second from behind the goal, if it wasn't for the deflection it was nestling in the opposite corner and the goalkeeper getting nowhere near it :-)

Doesn't matter how long you celebrate, when the ball goes in the net the ref stops his watch.

Starts it again when the opposition kick off.

Same with a substitution, stops his watch when he indicates a player change and starts it again once play is ready to go.

If it takes 15 secs to change a player because everyone is in a hurry why do they add on one minute?
