If we got to the play off final would Wembley tickets be in as much demand as the FA cup Semi? Many people I know have sworn never to return to Wembley in a play off final.

Or am I getting to ahead of myself?
You wouldn't want to miss the one that we win though would you.
Speaking as a veteran of 4 Baldes losing play off finals.

By the power of the Beard shall ye be born again.

I'll tell thi what, win our game in hand and it game on. I wouldn't bet against us catching Peat bog horror we have the momentum which is so important going into the last few games as we have seen time and time again in the past.

My wife reminded me that I said I would never go and watch United at Wembley again!!

Of course I will go again, FA cup semi-final, the FA cup final & play-off final.

Over last 6 games we took 16 points. 7 more than Peterborough. Thats 1.6 per game more than them.
10 behind. 11 to go. 1.6 x 11= 17.6. We are still on course to pass them comfortably according to the stats.

Yeah but those stats don't go as there are only 11 games left so how do we get 2 x draws and 10 wins?Secondly those Stats didn't include an ever more tired team playing four games against the top five. We will be very fortunate to get those stats for the remainder of the season. Great if we do but I doubt it. Also you have to factor in Wembley, that is another game on an already very tired team.

Do other teams not get tired then? We should look into their training methods because they must have 8 foot robots playing.

Our players have played more competitive football than any other side in the league since the start of February. That's bound to have an effect eventually - although it's interesting that Preston has only played one fewer time than us given how much fresher their players looked last night.

It's worth noting that there has only been 7 Wolves games in the time we've played 12 (and extra time).

Games played since February 1st (League One teams):
12
Sheffield United (inc 1x120mins)

11
Preston
Swindon

10
Bristol City
Leyton Orient
MK Dons
Peterborough
Port Vale
Stevenage

9
Bradford City
Carlisle
Colchester
Coventry City
Crewe
Gillingham
Oldham

8
Notts County
Rotherham
Shrewsbury
Tranmere
Walsall

7
Brentford
Crawley
Wolves

But they haven't got our backlog and Peterbrough have a bigger squad.

I think 5 days between games shouldn't be an issue. I also think when you look at players like Scougall and some of the others they have been used sparingly enough to be as fresh as those of the opposition.

Keep telling yourself you are tired and guess what, you will feel tired. If they hit the wall 5 games before the end of the season I would say yes, they are tired. Right now if there isn't something in the tank I'm worried we aren't very fit.

You may guess that I don't buy the tired thing, its as much in the head as it is in the body.

Peterborough lost on saturday as well. Ten games. Ten points behind. One point per game.
Can still be done.
We have 2 away games, then 4 at home, then 3 away. Bit odd.
WE CAN DO IT.

I like how you say 10 ponts like it's nothing.
If Everton win their two games in hand on Chelsea, they're only 9 points off the top. You can back em at 1000/1 for the title on betfair (well 999/1 cos it's 1000.0 in decimal odds) if you fancy it. Give it up, too big a gap, too many games and the squad isn't big enough.

If we have another run of wins lets start it on April 13th.

Nobody will be bothered about promotion if we win the last five games of April and fall short slightly.

Be just one more then to win on May 17th!!

Swindon is now a massive six pointer now. Peterborough don't play due to their involvement in the JPT Final, so Swindon is effectively our game in hand. I hardly dare say it, but if we win we're four points off the play offs. Peterborough still have a far better goal difference than us, though we gained 4 goals on them today.

Tough games against Swindon, Brentford and Rotherham coming up for us, but we've already won away at Posh and Crawley in recent weeks. I'd say we need five, or ideally six points from these three.

Much to my amazement, we are still in with a very slim chance.

If Posh take 14 points from their next 8 games (eg W4 D2 L2), we would need to take 21 points from 9 games (W7 L2) and achieve a swing of 9 goals v Posh to finish above them on goal difference - I've discounted everyone else as most clubs up there need about 2.5 points per game to achieve 72 points.

I have for a while thought we may finish 7th but what a job Cloughie has done.

How many miracles can this man achieve between now and the end of May ?

That is the issue. We have to play four more games against teams above us, whereas posh only one. At least, three of our games are at home. Posh have to go to Wolves.

There are a lot of doomsday merchants on here - it has ALWAYS been on to finish 6th - all NC and the management do is take one game at a time - shrewd and subtle changes to team selection.

We didn't actually play bad on Saturday - Scougs should have scored in the 2nd minute v wolves.

Bring on Swindon - play Porter or Paynter up top similar to tonight. The pattern now appears to be the false 9 at home and the big man up top away.

ONE GAME AT A TIME.

Posh's remaining fixtures. Wolves away and a couple of relegation sides. A few red cards would help

Peterborough v Colchester Wed 2 Apr
Wolves v Peterborough Sat 5 Apr
Peterborough v Gillingham Tue 8 Apr
Peterborough v Coventry Sat 12 Apr
Bradford v Peterborough Fri 18 Apr
Peterborough v Carlisle Mon 21 Apr
Shrewsbury v Peterborough Sat 26 Apr
Peterborough v Port Vale Sat 3 May

Can I have a bet we will finish 3 points behind Posh which will put us 7 th or 8th? I hope I am wrong. But we do a nice line in eighth places.

If we can win our next 2 games before Posh face Colchester, then it's down to 1 point and the pressure will be on.
Still a big ask but one game at a time and keep chipping away.

The way we're going, 7th is looking the most likely spot we will finish. Maybe within 2 wins as well.

Imagine being told that walking back to the train station from Gresty Road. I'd have laughed! (Actually I wouldn't, I was in a foul mood all day. More likely I'd have told you to f*** off)

Our last 6 W4 D1 L1 13pts.
P boro last 6 W2 D0 L4 6pts
9 to go 7 points behind 0.7 points per game needed. Well possible.

Im glad i cant see pboros sphincters right now, squeaky bum time for them now

I said we were down just before Weir left, who could ever have thought we would be hoping for 19/20th with a new manager. I don't think we will make it and I don't so much care, if we finish top ten (without even factoring in the cup run) it will be an absolute miracle.

well I am a big cloughie convert, he has juggled the team when needed and got the result, aquired players we could only dream of earlier in the season, and most importantly is getting the fans back behind the team, its nice to dream about possable play off berth but how many would have been happy with one place above relegation zone at end of season based on earlier results, clough came he saw and conquered

I've just had an idle squiz at Soccer net.com where I read this. 'And the FA Cup semi-finalists doubled their lead in the 63rd minute following a blistering counter-attack.'

FFS Do they mean us?
