That's what everyone is trying to tell you.

It's impossible for them BOTH to lose every game, which, inturn, makes it mathematically impossible 🤔

The point he keeps trying to make is that it would be mathematically impossible but the table wouldn't be showing that it was mathematically impossible.

I understand that and I know that Sheffield Wednesday will be relegated however the point is until that game is played if Sheffield Wednesday are on the same points as the teams above then they are not relegated even if they are 39 behind both with 39 to play and 1 team has to get 40 until that team has got 40, not based on the fact it's mathematically impossible for them not to get 40, then they are not officially relegated this is how the league table works, so until the final whistle of the last game they wouldn't relegate them in that hugely unlikely scenario, however that wasn't the original point the original point that someone made was that if Wednesday after the derby game were 39 behind both Leicester and Blackburn with 39 to play would they would be relegated based on the outcome of a game that isnt scheduled to be played for another 13 weeks

Sorry Wak but you’re having a stinker here mate. A team is relegated when they are unable to overtake a specific points threshold over another.

The fact Leicester and Blackburn play each other on the last day of the season is entirely relevant to the discussion on whether or not we can relegate them in February - the timing of this game is irrelevant, the fact that either Leicester or Blackburn will get 1 point as a minimum is important - That game doesn’t have to be played for the big red ‘R’ to appear next to their name should they come to the Lane and get ploughed.

In this particular instance, there isn’t a scenario where Wednesday can amass more points than the aforementioned teams because one of them will get at least 1 point in May (Wednesday need both of them to get 0 for the rest of the season - that can’t happen). They are therefore officially relegated at the end of the 90 minutes at Bramall Lane.
