Chasing Peterborough

I would like to think us, Bristol and them are main contenders in this league.

Possibly Preston as well.
Personally i think it will be between us,Orient and Brizzle for the top 2 spots when the season really gets motoring.

They've lost Washington today.

They usually find some non-league players of which one or two end up being worth a lot of money. They then flog them on and start again

That works for them and fair play to them for doing it, but they don't seem to actually progress up the leagues doing this, but maybe that's because Posh are kind of at their level in League One. Selling our better players hasn't worked surprisingly has it!? That said that's mostly because we sell our best players and then start again by not replacing them but pocketing the money and giving a fraction of the amount to find a replacement.

It's like being in a grand prix and doing well, only for your car to keep having a flat tyre just when we were starting to get near the front of the pack and then needing to go in for a pit stop and rejoin the race back in the middle of the pack again!

We all know that we can't keep our best players from progressing, but surely we can do a better job of finding a decent replacement! Take Murphy for example. He was 25 and in the prime of his career and we sell him for a decent price, only to replace him with a guy with no sell on value whatsoever and who is a league one winger at best. I like Woolford; when he plays well he's a solid League One player, but if you have a team full of players at Woolford's level you'll end up where we are now basically - chasing other teams that have two or three stand out players, whereas we have probably one in Sharp. Hopefully things will change in the next week or so.

Woolford isn't a replacement for Murphy is he? He's basically a defensive midfielder who sometimes ends up at left back.

Connor Washington gone to QPR, interesting to see who they replace him with.

What the Posh need is a big target man with a pedigree of having played on the continent ........

A deal for the Higgopotamus could be pushed through with a modest fee of say ....... £1 million ( provided they agree to take Collins and McEveley as well )

I don't think we would have to give posh that much money.

He ended up being the replacement though didn't he, even if he wasn't bought as a direct replacement. I get that Coutts and Brayford are doing well on the right flank and that Coutts shores it up too, but surely on the other flank we can have someone with more threat and pace than Woolford! We still concede goals down both flanks anyway, because it seems our full backs are incapable of showing the outside to a winger, as opposed to letting them cut inside and shoot or cross easily to goal! Brayford's probably the worst at that!

Peterborough are 3 points ahead of us, and in a play off position. Bradford, just five points above us, are in an auto spot.

I don't think the league position matters too much at this stage. The home game v Oxford and the away games v Gills and Bolton have confirmed that we are a work in progress but have the potential to challenge at the top.

I had the misfortune to watch Peterborough v Swindon yesterday, and today we looked better than both of them.
