Bloody hell, this thread. Is someone thinking that "the EFL" (as an entity) ceremonially puts a big "R" (a literal object?) next to "the League Table" (is this displayed on the outside of the EFL offices)?
Newspapers, Sky, the BBC, websites, etc. all show league tables and they choose whether or not to put an 'R' next to the name of a club that mathematically cannot stay up. Mathematically means that it cannot happen (a team overturning a 100-goal GD deficit can happen, even though it's unlikely, but two teams playing each other can't both get zero points). Two things for sure:
1. Newspapers and websites WILL account for the Leicester-Blackburn game, and any other possibilities.
2. "The EFL" don't put R signs next to clubs. At the end of the season, they formally notify promoted and relegated teams of their change in share of the league status.
