In a parallel universe... when Dickie Bird was a batsman, playing for Yorkshire, he struggled to get chosen regularly. He came in for one match, scored a century, and was then dropped for the following game. (Yorkshire did have a strong line-up at the time).

Oh no I'm not criticising Tel's approach, he did some good things on the day and had the balls to get stuck in at short notice.

There aren't many Cannaveros and they don't play at L1 level. I wish we could unearth someone like him. Doubt Wilson would have known what to do with him though !
made him sub?? :)
we won't find out though until he is properly tried.. people are judging entire lads careers on ten minute cameos.. personally i didn't rate Lowton for ages until he found his feet and look where he is now

On the flip side, there were many regular reserve viewers on here who rated Conor Brown higher than both Kyles. Maybe the injuries he's had have set him back but he's not gone as as some expected.

Right, because there is no difference is there?

Player 1

Given new contract by Danny Wilson and recalled by the new manager Chris Morgan who has had him in the u21's for the last 2 years. Has played for ourselves, Burton and Torquay this season in the league.

Player 2

Plays for Marine in the Northern Premier League. Only league experience was with Accrington Stanley where he played 2 games before joining Marine in a big fucking money move.

Let me think who might be the better option

My point is to point the complete ludicrousness of saying you can't judge a player on his record unless you have seen him play, which was what your argument was and from which you have now resiled.

If we think the chap from Marine is rubbish because he has a very poor record, why can we not think Chappell is rubbish because he has a poor record (again, to remind you, his only regular first time stint has been with conference threatened Torquay).

If Jordan Chappell is the answer, then we are fucked. He is 21 years old, has been a pro for 3 years and his only league appearance remains the anonymous cameo at the end of the Hartlepool disaster.

I am sure he is a lovely young man, but he is obviously not good enough even for the 3rd division.
Remember M.Lowton first game he played for us was when he was 20/21, so you never know.

I seem to remember that was the view of some people inside the club as well. Going back a bit further there was Colin Cryan who was in the same batch of youngsters as Jags, Tonge etc and was rated as the best prospect of them all. I believe he has now packed in playing all together, having bobbed around at a level below the conference most of his career.

Wow, you really are shit without stats to play with

I'd hardly call 4 starts established.

No, but he was quite obviously going to start the season that followed those starts. He'd forced his way into the first team at the very end of the previous season and there was no reason for him not to continue there - particularly given Morgan's prolonged absence. In the same way, Kyle Walker was very obviously someone that would remain a regular first teamer after his late appearance into the first team - albeit, with a different club owning him....

Of course we all know why Morgan has recalled Chappell don't we?

.......it's 'cos we haven't got a prayer :)

...... / coat?

. (yes i know Chappell in this context is not spelt the right way but if you say it quickly enough you get the gist)
