doing the 92

I've done 59 different grounds watching United. 2 of them are currently outside the 92 (Oldham and Rochdale). One of them is long gone (Bury). One club I've been to 2 different grounds for (Coventry). Outside "Club" stadiums I've also done old and new Wembley, and the Prinicpality Stadium in Cardiff. Oh, and Worksop town for a pre-season game years ago.

9 Of the stadiums I watched United in are no longer used or don't exist anymore. Highbury, The Withdean, Maine Road, White Hart Lane, The Boleyn Ground, Highfield Road, Ninian Park, Millmoor and Gay Meadow.

Going down the league tables as they are now, I've watched the Blades at:

Liverpool
Arsenal (Highbury)
Nottingham Forest
Man City
Newcastle
Brighton (Withdean)
Fulham
Aston Villa
Crystal Palace
Man Utd
Spurs (White Hart Lane)
West Ham (Boleyn Ground)
Wolves
Ipswich
Leicester
Southampton
Sheffield United
Leeds
Burnley
Sunderland
Coventry (Highfield Road and whatever the current one is called this week)
West Brom
Bristol City
Norwich
Watford
That shithole in S6
Millwall
Preston
QPR
Swansea
Stoke
Hull
Cardiff (Ninian Park)
Derby
Luton
Plymouth
Birmingham
Wrexham
Stockport
Reading
Bolton
Barnsley
Peterborough
Rotherham United (Millmoor)
Wigan
Shrewsbury (Gay Meadow)
Walsall
Bradford
Port Vale
Swindon
Gillingham
Oldham
Rochdale
Bury
Old Wembley
New Wembley
Principality Stadium
Worksop Town

Only one I'm really gutted about never getting to is Goodison Park, as I like old-fashioned grounds.

Favourites (except the lane) probably Anfield, Stadium of Light, Boleyn Ground. Biggest shitholes (apart from Hillsborough) Millmoor and The Priestfield.
Very Similar list for me:

Liverpool
Arsenal - Highbury
Nottingham Forest
Chelsea
Man City - Maine Road - Anyone else remember stupid shin-high benches in the away end?
Newcastle
Brighton - Goldstone
Villa
Bournemouth
Palace
Man Utd - Cup semi
Spurs
Everton
Wolves
Ipswich
Leicester
Southampton - The Dell
Bramall Lane
Leeds
Sunderland - both
Coventry - Highfield Road
West Brom
Middlesbrough - Ayresome
Bristol City
Watford
Norwich
Blackburn
Wendy
QPR
Portsmouth
Stoke - Victoria & Britannia (not Blades)
Oxford - piss wet through on New Year's Day
Hull - Old one, can’t remember its name
Cardiff - Old one
Derby - both
Plymouth
Huddersfield - old one
Bolton - Old one
Barnsley
Mansfield
Rovrum - Millmoor
Wigan - absolute dog shit hole whatever it was called
Northampton - cricket ground day of Hillsborough disaster
Walsall - not Blades
Bradford - Odsall and VP
Port Vale
Donny - stood in a cage at the old ground - name escapes
Wimbledon - the real one in SW London - Plough Lane?
Notts County
I think Grimsby, but can’t be sure
Chesterfield, both
Tranmere, I think - hazy on this one. I know I have been to the town and cannot for the life of me find a reason why I would have done if it wasn’t for a match.

Old Wembley
New Wembley
Millennium Stadium

Gone to non-league, never left non-league or oblivion:

Bury
Oldham
Hartlepool - not Blades
Scunny - not Blades
Matlock Town

Overseas - not Blades:

Anderlecht
Bernebau
El Carmen de Alajuela, Costa Rica

The overwhelming majority of these were in the Bassett glory days. Only additions after 1992 would be new Derby, new Chesterfield, New Wembley and Millennium. Life didn’t pan out that I could keep going away week in week out. I am unlikely to add to my list I think.

Good times, great memories.

Favourites were probably Anfield and Loftus Road. Biggest Shitholes: Wigan (stood on a muddy bank actually inside the ground). Old Donny

Dare we do Countries...(watching games in)

54 in total
Including 13 with The Blades (mainly "non competitive" therefore)

83, not all with United but would guess maybe half. Get up to 84 next week at Exeter, 85 if I can source a Plymouth ticket. Would have got #84 yesterday but FUCKING TRAINS. Have decent insurance against teams getting promoted this season as long as someone does Forest Green over. Trickiest one I have left is Bournemouth, just got to hope for a combination of us winning promotion, being complete dogshit, and the game being late enough in the season that the GHWs don't bother and let it get down to 30k like last season

Edit - it is 45 with United on a quick count

thev 82 club doesn't demand it has to be your team but IM not known for visiting other grounds much , when I lived in chapeltown went to watch Barnsley with a neighbour and went to Doncaster for a cup replay v Liverpool after they'd drawn at Anfield

The 10 of the 92 I haven’t done.

Newcastle United (one of those venues I can never get to, whether it be a Gong Convention in Amsterdam in 2006, COVID in 2020, or an ashes spreading ceremony at Avebury Stone Circle in 2024, something always crops up)
Wrexham
Mansfield
Wimbledon
Salford
Bromley
Harrogate
Barrow
Newport
Accrington

Halifax. At The Shay. There was a Fourth Division game on 12 April 1982. Definitely a friendly on 19 July 2016. And a Youth Cup tie on 16 November 2016. That is still the ground Halifax use now.

Buxton at Silverlands. There was definitely an U21 friendly on 5 August 2015.

Alfreton at North Street. I have never been to a First Team friendly there. But the U18s have used it as a HOME ground for Youth Cup games.
Definitely done the Shay. Sure we played them some time in the 00’s.

Just found it actually. 2002.

Hungary - which I annoyingly can’t count. A 3 team game, playing 45 minutes against Ferencvaros and Zalaegerszeg. Was in the ground when the 2 Hungarian teams kicked off. Then a huge big fuck off thunderstorm came over and it was abandoned before United had kicked a ball. It goes down as the furthest I’ve travelled to watch United for it to be called off. Here’s a few pics…

You're allowed to count England as well mate.

Impressed by the dedication in going to so many grounds.

There's loads I haven't been to, however I've seen us play at Selhurst Park and we didn't play Palace and I've seen us play at Upton Park/Boleyn Ground and we didn't play West Ham.

I’ve just referred to my spreadsheet and I’m on 60 current league grounds. Like others will have, I’ve lost a few with some of the shifts down into non league (Oldham, Scunthorpe etc).

A couple down on new ground shifts too, where I’ve not yet been to the new ones - Brentford and Spurs (I’m counting it as a new ground).

Can you assign a CBF member to inform me of any future games at said venues. 👌🏽
In all seriousness, we do have a good look at the Academy fixtures to identify new grounds (to tick). The targets this season have included;

Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground (for Sunderland U21)
Stratford Town (for Birmingham City U21)
Kidderminster Harriers (for Wolverhampton Wanderers U21)

Upcoming, there is
Wheatsheaf Park, Staines (for Brentford U18)
Maldon & Tiptree (for Colchester U18)

Charlton U21 was originally scheduled for Dartford, but has been switched to The Valley, the game is tomorrow and my sources are saying it's been switched again to the training ground.

Bournemouth U21 was originally scheduled for Wimborne Town, but has been switched to the main stadium

And, there's been a range of Academy & Training Grounds for those that way inclined.

Me again. Sorry. Well, they DO. In the sense of your count is your count. Don't let people tell you "there are rules" and "that doesn't count". Enjoy going to grounds. Enjoy the games. Enjoy keeping count ... your way.

Yeah cheers I do, it's that app that doesn't, I suppose that's their rules.

I know from reading this forum, there's many of you who've also been to many Scottish
football grounds.

Any good, bad experiences, unforgettable visits, anecdotes...
Did anyone travel to Dens Park or Love Street for the Anglo-Scottish Cup matches, circa '79/'80?

I was told that a former United player played for St. Mirren at that time.

Someone I know wouldn't count a ground if there wasn't a conventional turnstile.

Someone I know wouldn't count a ground unless he could buy, and take away, a conventional printed match programme.

Someone I know wouldn't count a ground if the goals had wheels on.

Someone I know had one count of grounds visited in daylight, another visited under floodlights.

Often ... I catch myself thinking ... how do I fucking know these people?

I went to both of those games. I think it was the day after the Dundee game I went to Wembley to watch England. We got back to Sheffield something like 4am and set off for London at about 8am. Not something I would contemplate these days.

Aye
Went to both as a callow youth.
The “former United player” was a former ‘Smeltic ‘ (!😳!) n’all - Jim Bone as pictured (was that your intention ?)
Done around 40 Scottish grounds with HOMFC (or to you ‘diet Huns’ 😳😉) & Stenhousemuir (anecdotes to follow)
Aberdeen should be commended for their ironic shithousing by playing “Sheep” by Housemartins afore kick off.

Country count (not with Blades) is England, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Czechia, Sweden and, at a stretch because still English league system, the Isle of Man

Not Chessie or Donny?

What app or site do people think is best for recording your stadiums digitally? Seen a couple of screenshots in this thread.

I've never counted up myself but would be intrigued to see if I even break past the 30 or 40 mark.

I’ve partially added functionality to the Player Rating System (in the background), once I’ve finished, people are welcome to use that :)

I use a spreadsheet. I've removed our details and attached it. Just type YES against the grounds you've been to and it'll count them up

I use the Futbology App on Android. I pay a subscription fee for the enhanced service. It's perfect for the level of detail and record keeping I like. It's more a "game recording" App than a "ground ticking" App. In that you enter GAMES. Either historically, or you CHECK IN in real time. Of course, by entering a GAME, the App also records the GROUND. So it provides a convenient way of ticking grounds as well.

It has some of the features you'd expect from a Social Media App. It highlights where you were On This Day in previous years. You can link friends. You will be alerted when they're at a game, and they'll be alerted when you are.

Lists and Maps are generated. And you can use it to FIND GAMES for the future. By date. By location. Etc. And to keep a diary of future games you plan to attend.

At a recent game, a friend from school I haven't seen for 50 years tracked me down in real life, in the stand, because he'd seen my name come up on the Check Ins and he "wondered whether it was me'.
