We need to consider the fact that Clough teams are built to play against opposition two divisions above, he must have the record for that.

To have perspective you need something to measure it against. Palace played an U23 side so dont see the relevance.
Granted they were a youthful side (not officially u23 but 1st team had just come back from abroad)... Still had a front line worth £16m out - Sorloth and Wickham

Also very worryingly. Wilder said after how well lunny is doind preseason. I have a horrible feeling hes going to start in the centre at Bournemouth. Makes me shudder.
Makes me shudder that thought,Brooks will just float past him as if he was not there, but i have promised misen that i would wipe the slate clean with Lundstram and see how he does if picked to play.

16 million is the new £250,000

Wiped the slate clean? What's he done to you?

Getting back to this thing about Moore and goalkeepers in general. I don't buy the suggestion that you can be a great league 1 or championship goalie but not so in the premier league. A great keeper is a great keeper at any level. The ball doesn't go in a different direction or at a different speed just because it's a different division. If you've got the speed of reaction and the handling skills at league 1 then you've got them in the premier league. Nerves affecting confidence is the only thing I can see having any bearing on stepping up to the highest level, not ability. For what it's worth I think Moore gets a rough ride from blades supporters as an easy scapegoat.
Your right, Moor isn't a bad keeper but when he was playing regularly for us a corner was usually a goal and I have never seen so many worldie goals against us in my life, some even from the wings. There is a reason we gained our two promotions with different keepers.

Think that view is too simplistic. We had different players last season to that of league 1 champions . I've said nowhere that Moore would be my first choice stopper, just that hes a scapegoat for some. Their winner last night was stoppable. Not by Moore but by the midfielders that got turned inside out without getting a challenge in . Haven't read anywhere about them being good enough or not.

Nothing last season, thank fcuk, thats why we got promoted. If he gets picked this season then we will all see how he gets on (clean slate) understand.

Are you a Lunny Luvvie ?
Harsh, he's been a useful squad player who looks to have impressed Wilder so far this pre-season, and I agree with him. Would you label Wilder a Lunny Luvvie? Assuming that's meant to be some sort of dig. By the same token are you a Lunny H8r.

Your agenda isnt hidden though, its clearly overt. Fair critisism of a player when hes had a stinker is fair enough, but to come on and say "was Moore at fault" (in other words if he could have got near any of the goals I'm going to go on the forum openly slaughter him, and that say I told you so) makes you a bit of a front bottom in my book.

For the record Chris Wilder thinks he's more than adequate. Think I'll trust his judgement rather than that of the pitchfork brigade.

Think it's fair to say he made a hash of the first. Hit him and went in.

Anyway, I don't own a pitchfork, and I don't really care about the result. Have you taken a tetchy tablet Simon? Seem to be very worked up about me simply asking whether we could have done better with the goals we conceded.

If you're happy with Simon Moore being our first choice keeper, and don't think we're currently in a weaker position for not having Henderson good for you. I'm happy with him being our back up keeper, but if he's in the net come Bournemouth I'll be devastated.

Not an agenda then, hidden or otherwise, an opinion based on results and his performance, I'm not having a kneejerk reaction. I'm not trying to affect anything, have no power, and I'm not saying my opinion is worth more than Wilder's.

Wilder may think he's alright but it's telling that he's been quick to stick him on the bench every season we've been out of League One.

A competent lower middle Championship keeper, a great League One keeper.

Ball hits him and it goes in so hes made a hash of it? Yeah right ! Hardly a surprise interpretation given your agenda.
Wilder thinks hes adequate back up in the prem ergo better than league league one as you keep banging on about. Think he knows what hes looking at . You on the otherhand.

"I'm happy with him being our back up keeper"

And yeah, when a keeper gets in the way of the ball it's normally to stop it going in, not to help it on its way.

The ball didnt hit him then as you said he helped it on its way? Which is it?

It hit him, and went in, so he helped it on it's way. What are you on about?

Are you his agent? Maybe you have the agenda.

I was right behind the goal and was glad the net stopped it! He was not at fault for either goal. Made some good regulation saves in the first half. But we need better for the prem in my view as Moore's biggest weekness is he sometimes makes a save and pushes it back into play, you will not get away with that in the premiership.

FFS i thought friendlies were all about getting players playing games in a competitive environment, against sides which will test you, integrating new players, trying different systems etc...

But reading this thread it seems that it counts as a league game and we've dropped 3 points!
I haven’t read all of this but I’m assuming it’s been pointed out that Burton are a week ahead of us in their preparations?

Maybe I'm not quite as knowledgeable as the knowledgeable Blade BUT...

Marcus is down as my player to watch next season IF we (burton) can keep hold of him. He took a long time to establish himself and I think probably we were close to letting him leave.

Then he did a couple of things that make you sit there and think, hang on a minute this lad really has got something about him.

For you proper blades, think Cambridge away in the FA Cup when Jamie Murphy came off the bench and produced some real quality in his 20 minute cameo.

The only thing that will stop Marcus from making it at least at a top level Champ side is his own self confidence. If he cracks that he's got everything needed.

Hopefully though,, for a long while to come, a top level Championship players is no good to you Blades and not what you're looking for or need ;-)

I've been critical of Moore in the past but there's no way you can blame him for either of those goals. Even if the first does go in off his head it's a header from 5 yards out where Brayford has just redirected a well-hit corner while the second is a great strike - Slater is sent for a pizza by the Burton player's turns.

One final note: if the offside flag shown in the video is the one after McGoldrick's goal was disallowed it's clear that assistant doesn't know the rules...the flag should have been horizontal as McGoldrick was in the middle third of the pitch. I'm glad we're not dealing with L1 officiating any more!

Highlights

Who the heck compiles these highlights? Where's the post and crossbar attempts in the first half?

Also it's clear to see how Kieron Freeman brings an extra dimension to the RWB role, often looks like he's playing CF which is absolutely what CW's organised chaos is about. Baldock as good as he is doesn't have the attacking brain to get in those positions (which can be crucial in utterly confusing an opponent's defence).

I think KF could be key in opening up teams outside the top 6. At Bramall Lane at least.
