Good Pele, deluded people are talking about the English national team as though they are anything other than third-rate garbage.

Looking forward to another week at a major tournament, obviously...

I was about to like this, but had a "Pinchy straw man alert", as I couldn't believe anyone of sound mind could think England were anything other than fucking garbage.

Thankfully, the straw sensor did its' job, as it doesn't look like anyone's suggesting otherwise?

:)

Chris Coleman said Brooks and a few others aren't far off the Wales squad according to reports.

He will be capped before the end of the season.

I see they lost 2-0

How did he play?
They were heavily outclassed against a Portugal team that had Renato, Guedes and Ruben Neves who have all went for substantial transfer fees. Brooks was fairly average but starved of the ball and didn't make the right decision enough times when they finally got it to him. Had a shot on target routinely saved by the keeper through a chance he created himself. Difficult to judge his performance against such a gulf in class between the two sides though.

He was fantastic in the previous game and if he nails down a spot in our 11 before the end of the season I can see him getting into the senior Wales squad, potentially a world cup Welsh squad. Coleman might be keen to prevent his allegiance switching back to England aswell.

He has a potentially easier and quicker path to international football with Wales. Impress in the Championship over the next few months and it's possible he might get a senior call-up before the season finishes – the likelihood of that happening with England this season is virtually zero.

Eyes on the squad announcement for Georgia and Ireland at 11 this morning. I've got a feeling Brooks might be a surprise call-up...

Holy shit.....firstly that the lad was so small at 16, but Jesus wept....I was right!
Said last night Coleman won’t waste any time trying to get the lad as a Wales player....if only for what his future offers!!

I bet that boy cannot believe the 6 months he’s had.

More fool you Man City.....and every academy in the country that writes these lads off because they are late developers or simply slightly built!

Half-Welsh like myself. More exciting to watch than Engerland these days, n'all. Will definitely be tuning in and hopefully he gets chucked in the mix.

Think he's made a spot on decision. He's probably got more chance of playing there they don't seem to be frightened to give young lads a chance at senior international football, unlike England where club snobbery seems to be evident and players are being picked on who they play for and not how good they actually are.

Plus I reckon he will learn a lot more training and playing alongside bale than Jesse lingard and Danny welbeck.

I'm glad that Brooks isn't an Engerland player.

I can't imagine how badly those cunts would ruin him with their long-standing commitment to destroying any semblance of creativity and ability in their players.
Couldn't agree more. Most teams worry about players coming back from international duty fully fit. Where Gareth 'chloroform' Southgate's England is concerned, you just have to hope they don't come back comatose.

Really disappointed to be honest, as an England fan! Well done Brooks, fully deserved and Coleman isn't daft, he knows that he needs to pick him now! I just hoped that Brooks would go onto England, probably not with us but he is certainly a potential full international.

My only concern is if he gets injured, international defenders aren't going to let him rip them a new one easily.
Brilliant for the lad though or should I say GLTTL :p

Not sure if he will get a game but simply being included reflects well on both him and the club. I just hope this isn't a signal for the vultures to start circling. Well done David.

He certainly won't start either game. But I could see him being given cameos at the end of both. I see him potentially serving the sort of role Tom Lawrence has had in these qualifiers off the bench (though Lawrence surprisingly started the Austria game).

the vultures i imagine are already circuling , there were 20+ scouts watching him even at pre-season before he was starting league games and making a fool of piglets live in Sky

here's hoping if we are still around the top 6 come January and he is still featuring allot , he and the club give it until atleast the summer and hold off selling . All the players say it and you can see, the atmopshre amongst the players and whole club is great and must be great to play in
, a great man manager, excellent coach and great facilities

he has already be plucked from a big clubs academy where no doubt he had been fogotton about so may be reluctant to go off to anoither 'big club'

saying that , money talks and if he has a tawtty agent and he listens to him, he will be shipped off to the highest bidder and i fear as a club we will not say no to the sale if the price is right

past experience's would suggest a bid of £2 million would buy Brooks but hopefully we have learnt our previous errors,

if he does have to go , we should be holding out for £10-15 million atleast - that at the end of the day is pocket change to all premiership teams now

Smart move in my opinion. Won't be a popular opinion but I think he is highly unlikely to ever reach England quality and therefore has more chance of playing international football with Wales.

I think with us being in L1 for so many years we have forgotten what true England quality looks like. Brooks has potential to be a very tidy player, but when you recognise that Dele Alli is only a few months older than him, it might make you realise how far away Brooks is, in real terms.

In his position alone, there are plenty of players under 25 that are way ahead of him (Redmond, Rashford, Murphy, Ali, Oxlaid-Chaimberlain) and really there quite a few more, I think it makes perfect sense from his point of view.
Let's hope the Premiership's big spenders think that way in January

Kid seems very level headed from what i've in interviews hopefully he has a same minded agent and also appreciates what sure have done for him can see him seeing the season out with us.
Benchmark for me is lookman £11m to everton in terms of transfer fee
