The objectivity of some comments (mine included) have been called into question, there's also a school of thought that he did well on Wednesday and some saying he did nothing and just scored a tap in. In my view I don't care if a striker has a shit game overall, if they score a goal (particularly a winner) then they've done what they're paid to do and had a good game. Objectively then I'd say Brewster had a good game last night, he scored, we won 1 nil, happy days.
To go further into the season stats and compare our forwards as well as some of the better forwards in the league and one from a shit team to give a bigger sample, all taken from FBref and yes I'm bored, kids are all in bed, Mrs is out on a birthday do:

What it tells me is that Brewster is doing ok in the context of our strikers in terms of his contribution to the game, he's having more touches per 90 than all the rest and he's scoring more per 90 than Moore. Whether these touches are effective or not isn't what this information tells you, but a lot were critical of him not touching the ball last night and he had 18 touches in the time he was on the pitch. One and Brewster obviously have a much smaller sample size and don't start often, therefore come on at times to run around and make a nuisance of themselves rather than actually impact the game. Campbell's touches the ball least per 90 but has scored the most by a long way, so you don't have to be constantly involved to be effective.
When you compare our forwards to the likes of Lath and Piroe, top scorers with auto/play-off rivals then apart from Campbell all are lacking in the goals department, Piroe gets a lot more 'involved' in the game, but Leeds are said to play more on the front foot than us (I've only seen them against us so can't comment really). Lath has less touches and is more akin to our strikers with his involvement, but he knows where the back of the net is, again Boro are classed as more 'attacking' than we are.
I put a player from a shite team in for comparison and was actually surprised by his stats, he has plenty of touches and has scored a decent amount of goals to say he's playing for what I only assume are a set of 'backs against the wall useless bastards who like to pinch 0-0 wins wherever possible', my sample size is small because I'm not a closet pig and have therefore only seen them once this season.
Objectively then it seems we're a bit dull and boring as a set of forwards, apart from Campbell who's in Leon circa 2017 form at the moment (although I hope it's not just a purple patch!). Brewster is pretty average in our line up of forwards but scores a lot less than the much cheaper Campbell.
In terms of Rhian, my personal view is still that we need another 15 goals from him this season to be classed as anything near a decent footballer, he probably needs 3 of those to come against the pigs to make me actually change my mind. I know the fee wasn't his fault but we paid it and he signed what I presume is a healthy contract on the back of it and hasn't performed to anywhere near the expected levels.
Those who want to back him keep on doing so, my eye is more critical given his past failures in a Blades shirt and he needs to win me around, hopefully he will.
