2 things watching that back.
1) How well Basham played that day, the number of interceptions and tackles the lad makes is tremendous, lots of them led to our transition to attack.
1st 3rd and 4th goals all from a Basham intervention.
2) Bender coming down the steps at the final whistle to shake Tufty's hand after they had been spanked in their own back garden. 😄 😄 😄

Not sure how close they are, but well he's an easily recognisable man about town in Sheffield who 'knows' everybody.
If we shipped 4 goals at home to Wendy the last thing on my mind at the final whistle would be shaking the opposition managers hand, even if it was mi Dad!

I noticed that and wondered who it was and why Chris would go over and shake a pig fans hand after what had just happened
 
Couldn't believe how bad the pigs were, especially in the first half. Big shout outs to Reach (who made me laugh out loud twice), Van Aken, Hunt, Bannan, and of course Westwood, who gave up half of his goal for the free kick and let Duffys' shot go straight through him. Loved the sight of Hooper constantly complaining about the aimless hoofs up to him and Bannans' hair mirroring Wednesdays' slow decline. Personally, I think 4-2 flattered them. This was the moment the balance of power shifted.
 
It was a shame that Leon didn't get a hat trick, the one where Brooksy puts him through and he shoots over, that would have caused an even bigger meltdown in the theatre of rust.

Watching the game again yesterday, from the comfort of the living room, with multiple TV camera angles, really showed how we dominated that game. Deano would have saved the first goal, but the second was a decent effort from Joao.

Flecky's free kick, with the pig keeper stranded on his line, Leon's first, where he puts the ball in the net, then runs along the pitch, staring at the pig fans, his second where he simply runs straight through the powder-puff Wendy defence.

And Duffy. What more can be said about that. It was going in, one way or another, Brooksy had run through the middle and Leon had made it to the back post, so a red and white shirt would have put it in the net anyway, but Duffy made sure his team mates weren't needed in the end. He embarrassed Van Aken and fired straight into goal.

Loads of empty seats on show as the TV camera's started filming the pig fans streaming out. Lovely stuff.

"Local businessman", owns a company that buys old petrol stations and pubs (amongst other things) and demolishes them to build flats.

Probably saw the TV camera's on Chris Wilder and wanted to get on TV.

Thought for the tickets they gave us our support more than matched theirs for all but 2 minutes.

I thought that as well. On chances created it could easily have been 6 or 7 and both of their goals came from our individual errors really. Like others have said it was great to see the likes of Coutts,Wrighty and Duffy again but how much have we improved quality side. What Wilder has achieved is nothing less than phenomenal.

I’ve been watching football for 30 years and I’ve never in my life given stick to a goalscorer. I don’t why people get so upset about it. It’s what he’s paid to do.

It especially irks when a player has been getting loads of stick and scores, does the finger to the lips and people use it as an excuse to behave like animals.

Just enjoy the theatre. You’ve given him abuse and he’s scored in response. Don’t give it out if you can’t take it.

Vardy did it to a tee at the lane earlier this year - got to admire it really
 
How the rust bucket emptied so quickly was really noticable watching the re-run, they really are the most fickle fans around ,how we have moved on in the short time since then, champions league in our grasp eh! That was the day when you sensed something really special was happening at our great club

That’s a great example. He’s got to celebrate scoring against us. It just adds to it - you just hope he misses a pen and we have the last laugh.

One of my Aussie mates did something similar. He was at an Aussie Rules on the front match and someone had a free shot from long range. He was right up in his ear saying “you’re shit, you’ll miss this”.

The player in question nails it and instead of celebrating with his teammates, he turns round, leans over the fence and yells back at my mate.

Who, to his eternal credit, just sat there and said “well that’s fair.”

Whose part? We mothballed his position in preseason long before the contract issue and departure happened. I’m not sure where he’d have got any game time this season. It’s the same issue Luke Freeman has had, but with the added problem of not playing the one of the centre-mid roles.

Agree. With a two goal cushion, we could have had him on even if just in injury time, which would have helped run the clock down too. He’d have loved to have been on the pitch at the end.

No way was Sharp fit enough to be involved other than for emergency purposes, and there was no way in the midst of 4 of our strikers not being 100% that Wilder would have done it. Sharp didn’t see a minute of football till three weeks later.

Not getting him on in the return game though, that was a mistake that Wilder has previously held his hands up on.
