CONFIRMED Bogle to Leeds United

If he goes we’re unlikely to be able to sign similar quality for the fees being talked about so I’d look at aggressively using a loan spot to replace Bogle and use those funds to get deals over the line in other areas of the squad.

Norton-Cuffy from Arsenal is the one I’d chase on loan.

Just caught up on 5 or 6 pages of this thread. Nobody seems to be mentioning Leeds perilous financial position (desperate need to sell). So why are they spending £7m on a right back - these things happen, but seems ridiculously risky.

It was reported that they needed to raise 100m in sales this summer before they could spend much.

Looks like they’re going to comfortably clear that with the Gray, Summerville and Rutter sales rumours.

Could also be Bogles agent with an agenda agitating for a longer deal and a raise for his client not just a one year option that probably had a large relegation cut built in.

Who knows.

Yeah. But so far they've actually only sold Gray I think (without googling especially).

Overall I really like Bogle. Obviously better offensively than defensively. But I really like him. Gets me off my seat etc... having said that, if he's said he doesn't want to renew, we should take the money - he doesn't have a reliable injury record anyway, so (for example) might miss half the season then leave on a free. £7m-£10m would be reasonable given all of the above.

Final year of his contract, wants to leave, has told us he won't renew his deal here... writing's on the wall.

We should hold firm on our price. He's a decent player and at 23 has a lot of potential upside for the buying club (we need to insist on a sell-on).

If we can get to that £7m mark then I trust we can replace him.
I think the Joe Worrall signing is a really important one. Perhaps we should divert any proceeds there before looking for full backs, which are often more readily available on PL loans.

I agree, contract coming to an end so cash in on him, but only if the price is good £6m - £7m with a sell on. Invest in a replacement for a £2m - £3m. Pump the 'profit' into a key position signing.

if were switching to a 4231 formation bogle will be surplus to our requirments he cant defend so would be no good to us imo last year of contract wants to go to leeds let him go but for no less than 5m and then bring a loan premier league right back in

Bogle clearly falls into the same category as Ndiaye and Berge last season. Ideally they'd sign a new deal and stay but if it's clear they're not willing to do that they will be sold if anyone meets the asking price. That was £15m for Berge, £20m for Ndiaye and seemingly £7-10m for Bogle.

The revisionism on here, by the way, about Bogle is astounding. I spent most of last season reading about how he can't defend and can't attack yet most seem to be of the opinion that £7m is underselling.

Also: the quality of the deal isn't necessarily in how much we get for the player who wants to leave but how we replace him. We failed miserably replacing Berge at half price with Souza and we did OK replacing Ndiaye (who was, frankly, irreplaceable) with Hamer for half the cost. If we can get a decent option (or two) to replace Bogle for £3-4m then it's a good deal. That's a big "if".

I feel a little indifferent about this one. Bogle when fit is a good player but it's his frequent injuries that are an issue. If he's not willing to sign a new contract and we can get 5-7m for him then it makes sense. I'd prefer him to stay but it's not worth letting a young asset walk for free at the end of the season

exactly same situation as berge and nidaye its obvious the club are not prepared to let unhappy players run their contracts down and go for nowt so at least get something for em bogle wants leeds so let him go but certainly not for the paltry 3m theyve offered

If he wants out and we can get a decent fee i'd sell him, even to Leeds because he's had his injury problems at times but more importantly we don't want a player just running down his contract. I reckon we could get similar quality to Bogle as good as he has been this season. He's gonna get some stick going to them though.

I'll add this on Bogle. He's a good player but I don't get the impression that he's ever truly embraced the club in the same way Fleck, Norwood, Baldock, Bash etc did. I think that's evident in that he wants to leave and considers a move to a divisional rival as a good move when really he should be looking at the PL. I get he's not asking for a move but wanting to go to Leeds just makes me think, ok, off you pop then.

I think come the end of the window we'll have a strong if not stronger squad then Leeds

He was (quite often) good, loads of ability and he'll have a decent career if he stays fit and puts the hours in. Has the potential to be very good.

But- often injured, defending was often questionable (and last season wasn't even questionable....if anyone can be arsed watching back 100+ goals, just watch how many are his fault), if we're switching to a back 4 he'd be even more vulnerable and now he'd like to sign for Leeds.

Plenty more right backs in the sea.

With the departures and lack of signings I am not surprised Bogle was considering other options. Maybe with yesterdays signings and more to come he will change his mind. But if he doesn't sign by the end of the month I would take what we can get for him.

Technically very good.

Be a shame but we can not afford to lose players for nowt any longer. The damage of that 1st PL season and the money spunked still having a profound effect on the clubs finances !!!

It's such a frustrating one this. As has been said, switching to a back 4 would seriously expose Bogle, but on the other hand, remember those first few games when Wilder came back and we were all raving about how "Wilder has turned Bogle into a brilliant defender overnight". He's got it in him, which is the frustrating part. I liken him to a bit like Trent Alexander Arnold, just a fair few levels down. He can defend at times, but is much more effective going forward. He's got some seriously good skills on him that surprise other teams and his composure in front of goal, when he gets a chance, is usually really good.

At 23, I don't want him to go. I reckon a decent captain and some strong characters in the back line could get him to a reliable first team RB, providing he stays fit. That said, if he wants to go to Leeds and we're looking elsewhere, we have to move him on but for a decent fee. At his age, he could easily be a 25 million pound right back at some point in his career if he has a good coach, good team around him and stays fit.

Aye
But my haemorrhoids has the same impact (no pun intended ?)

Suggestions are he wants to go to Leeds, and won't sign another deal for us. IF, that is true, then take the money and run.

Apparently asking for £5mil up front with add ons, Leeds willing to pay 4 in total

He has probably been told to say that, the lower the transfer fee the higher the signing on fee?
So this comment would force Utd's hand to take a lower price than they wanted.
I think he is gone, just a case now of getting what we can, if we can get £6M INC add ons then I think that might be the best we can do. i.e £4.5M now and an extra £1M if they get promoted (would rather lose the £1M if that is the deal!) and another £0.5M on appearances maybe.
That might cover the purchase of Cooper, which is essential I think.
I like Bogle, I wish he wasn't going.

100% this!

If we sell him to Leeds we may as well just admit we aren’t getting promoted.

Making a promotion candidate stronger while drastically making ourselves worse is just ridiculous.
Hate to tell you this but there’s absolutely no chance we’re getting promoted🤣
Hopefully not anyway, mid table will be an achievement.

An unusual move, but I don't agree with the promotion bit or the drastic bit.

I really like Bogle. But nobody's going to say it would improve Leeds defensively are they. So maybe that would hinder them overall.

Availability wise - he appeared in 34/38 league games last season, but before that had two seasons in Championship of 20 appearances and 18 appearances. Not great in 46 game seasons. Although admittedly we had Furious George first choice some of that time - there were plenty of injuries though.

The bottom line here will be financial thinking, if it's true.
