Next match: Sheffield United v Brentford

What do you think about match?

Brentford now leading.A tough match.
But our guys can win! We believe guys!

If we play like we did yesterday, the best we can hope for us a draw. For the last 60 minutes we often gifted possession and defended deep to a poor Shrewsbury side. If we do that to Brentford, they'll have a goal feast.

Against better teams is when our current formation works best , ask Fulham and Villa keep it tight , then attack fast , I think we could surprise Brentford by our solid back line , with midfielder sitting just in front of them , we'll certainly give them a better game then earlier in the season , we give teams the ball in places were they can't hurt us , like teams did to us earlier in the season and look how that panned out , it's helped put us in the situation we're in now , I think after extra time in midweek on a heavy pitch , Mr Clough got his tactics spot on game was won after half an hour , or did we want another Crewe or Bradford performance , were in danger of going down so he kept it tight got 3 points , keep us in touch with the teams above with games in hand , I'd take a point now from Brentford , but if they want to give us 3 , please be my guest , there last game was against Shrewsbury , they drew 1-1. Looking forward to the games ahead I trust our manager to do the right thing to keep us up , if it means shutting up shop after half an hour to get 3 points then so be it we have to stay in this league , then watch us go next season . UTB .

Clough himself stated after the Fulham game that setting ourselves up in the same way in league 1 won't always work because we have an expectancy to be on the front foot. Against top of the league I think we will play similar to that against Fulham and the match might just suit us more than them. I expect Doyle to come in for Coady and it wouldn't surprise me to see Murphy not make the starting XI also. That's not what I would do, but Clough may well do that to accommodate Paynter or (god forbid) Porter.

Last match: Shrewsbury 1-1 Brentford. An interesting match, we can do it. Even we can win!

You're right, there is an expectancy to play higher up the pitch and not allow teams possession, but possession is over rated - see Fulham and Villa. An Everton fan in my office came in and told me how they were robbed in the jersey side derby which they lost 4-0, they apparently had much more possession!

Perhaps the cup games can teach us that it's ok for the opposition to have possession. As long as they're not in the final 3rd they can do what they want with it... We just hit them on the counter.

I think the reason that this wouldn't work at L1 is that doing this every week we'll get found out and teams will adapt. If we play this way against the more positive sides then perhaps it has it's place, but we need to mix it against some of the more defensive sides and some sides will also not be able or cope with us playing a higher line

Let's get back to "fortress Bramall Lane" starting yesterday and we'll climb this table quicker than a rat up a drain pipe

I think we could go out and nick it, although a draw would be a good result. All depends on which Sheffield United turn sup

dublin 10 blade not sure it works against better teams, but teams that want to be positive and get forward against us
At the moment Swizzler , in my view , there's 20 better teams than us in this league although I know what you mean , maybe if we weren't in the position we're in , we could be the one's being more positive and aggressive in matches , maybe when we survive this year we'll be on the front foot next year , as we march towards the title .

Brentford are 18 games unbeaten and haven't lost away for 8 games. This will be very different to the Shrewsbury game, who have only won 1 in 11.

However, we are also unbeaten in 6 at home.

I thought Cloughie got it exactly right yesterday and in giving them 2 days off I think he's doing the right thing. He knows some are out on their feet after the week's efforts.

We need Flynn and Murphy to be on their games on Wednesday for sure.

We could be in for a tough night but I'm much happier about our form at home now.

What a boost 3 points would be ...................................

Forget the stats, don't think about who did what, Fulham just got a point at Old Trafford ffs so let's just be sure that we've prepared and hope that Cloughie gets his tactics right on the night. There aren't any world beaters at this level and anybody can beat anybody. Get organized, get stuck in and we can match any team in this division.

I've never been afraid of Brentford, and I don't see why we should start fearing them now.

How likely is the game going to be on / off on Wednesday night?

Thanks guys

Pretty likely to be on, unless we have torrential rain on the day. Though the pitch has suffered recently and is a bit rough in parts. Always like going to Griffin Park, particularly The Magpie and Crown. When are you moving to the new stadium and will it be near many decent pubs?

Thanks, I noticed in the game v Fulham pitched looked a bit boggy. How was the pitch sat?
Ha thansk for beating by the way, one we hate fulham and too I had an in play bet on you guys to be drawing at HT and win at FT of Extra T :) Very sweet ha!

Lionel Road planning is with Boris Johnson at the moment but he’s taking his time and then it goes to the Secretary of State, so it will be another month minimum before we get a decision. But hope the stadium is in place for the start of 2016 season or very worst 2017, as the FL aren’t keen on mid-season stadium moves.

Not too sure on the pubs around that part of Brentford, ill most probably stick around where GP is now, depending on what the ground has to offer.

You might not have to worry about pubs for a while, can’t believe the position you are in right now

why?? we have been doing well since he was suspended.. coincidence?
We have done that well without him we only let in 3 at Crewe ;-) . To paraphrase NC, you don't get injured if you don't put in a tackle.

In fairness, NC probably knows he made a mistake at Crewe by not playing McGinn. Brentford will be tougher than Shrewsbury which is why I think Doyle will play instead of Coady who I think has been are weakest link in midfield over the last 3 games.. However, If some of the others are a bit knackered from the games recently (Scougle,Flynn,Murphy?) he may keep Coady to play wide and possible bring Painter in and use the other three as impact subs

Need a centre midfield who can run beyond in this formation. To be fair to Coady, he did that on Saturday and I think he's much more mobile than Doyle. Let's see what Clough thinks.
