Bet Wilder's fuming

Meh, five of the side that lost to Barnet were also signed by Wilder that season. I'm sure he's not happy with how they played but we've seen multiple times in the last 9 months alone that if you make 10-11 changes you generally play like absolute crap.

The League cup seems to be a reserve cup for most teams and last night was a demonstration of that with both sides putting about second string sides.

Wilder said in his post match interview that he should be pissed off, but attention now turns to Liverpool and it also shows that his first team selections are justified as that second string isn't doing enough to force their way in.

Agree.....Wilder would be fuming if he read this forum.

So many of our fans have little faith in our players and so quick to write off players as past it or not good enough.
Many thought Lundstrum was crap...look at his now.

A factor to bear in mind.
Winning in the EFL tends to earn £10,000 for the club.
Winning in the PL means that you win £2 million for each place you finish higher up the table.

It’s crazy really......the prize money in the EFL Cup is a joke compared to money earned in the PL.

Look at the results both Tuesday and Wednesday - virtually all the Prem teams that had multiple changes struggled, the ones that didn't were the exception.

It's a balancing act trying to keep a squad happy.

But jeezus its hard to take that your second string can't destroy the lower leagues, it's hard to take that Ravel doesn't think, right sleeves up 'watch me go'.

But one things for sure we ain't alone- Terry on Talksport unhappy Hammer- brilliant.

Oh and btw before i get shot down i don't care we lost in the cup. Just saying they should be trying to impress more than a Stearman or Freeman.

I do think there are worrying signs about our new signings. A £40m budget provided an opportunity to strengthen the team significantly. I don’t think we have.
L. Freeman is better than Duffy (sorry. But you've just got to accept that)
Mousett/mcburnie and Robinson are better than mcgoldrick, sharp and any other striker we have on the books. Sorry to say that but it's a fact.

I've just heard his post match and interview and he didn't sound like he was fuming or even that bothered.

He did say that no one who played today really went out to grab his attention, so it doesn't look any of them will be in the teamsheet any time soon.

The only players he mentioned as doing alright were Besic and the forwards

I wouldn’t say they have significantly improved the team though. Other than Mousset in very small flashes, none of the new signings have looked Prem class so far.

Maybe not significantly, but they're definitely improvements on what we've got, I think they just need time to bed in, adopt the United play style and they'll be great additions. Mcburnie in particular.

Remember, Wilder was surprised with the result against Blackburn saying so in the post match interview, and even acting as if he forgot what the name of the cup was and had to look at the boards behind him 😂

He definitely wanted out of the Carabao, not worth any injuries, especially to the 2nd team, they'll play their part in the big league this season... guaranteed he told them to take it easy and just have a run out.

No chance!

There's obviously a 'doesn't matter how badly you play' agreement for cup games and the understanding that it will have no bearing on league team selection.

It's the only explanation for the squad players trying so little to stake a claim. They'll have been encouraged to cruise through the game at about 75%.

He'll be pleased to be out of the competition.

And guess what, it'll be the same with the FA Cup. Even if we're fucking 10th.

Wilder's body language and actions during the last 15 minutes were enough to convince me of his feelings

Who would you have signed for that budget then?

Like it or not £40m is nothing in Premier League terms in 2019, that’s why our signings bar one came from the Championship,

I think Mousset is an Upgrade on Hogan

Freeman is an Upgrade on Dowell

McBurnie will be an upgrade on Madine

If we stop up then next season I expect a double budget and then we may be able to tempt some players in with extensive Premier League experience.

Wouldn't surprise me if Wilder sent them out with the priority being 90 mins for some players, match fitness and a result is a bonus.

You have 2 strikers there that have liverpool on the horizon (Robinson supports them), so they're hardly going to be going at 90. The others have had what...200 mins of football this season between them?

Hardly a surprise really on the face of it. Plus, hardly inspiring running out and the kop is bloody shut.

I went to the game and not fussed were out of a cup just wanted to see some new players and top my points up..

Obviously alot of people are blind on here though. Im saying Wilder wont be happy with the fact that 7 new signings started and didnt stake a claim for a start in the PL 11!

He did say just that, but that kind of contradicts his squad strategy, whereby he has always maintained he has a reserve in place for every position and those in the first team are continually being pushed by the shadow squad.

If he’s now saying that his second string isn’t pushing then is that not an admittance that they’re not good enough?
