Best time you ever had in S6?

December 1979. I was just 14 yr old, and for me it made me realise that my love for United was unconditional. I could never support those blue n white bastards.
It also made the Bobby Davison game 13 years later much much sweeter.
The last one I went to was the game where Kilgallon was sent off. We lost (can't remember the scoreline), and I remember thinking what a complete shitehole that away stand is, and vowed never to return to the dump again, and I never will.

A bit of fun as we approach the possibility of getting the upper-hand against our 'friends' across the city. I know that 'enjoy' and Hillsborough don't normally go together, but it can happen. My best moment was in 1996. The kids bought me tickets for the Euros, and the first game was Denmark v Portugal. I went with interest, but what made my day was finding my seat in the North Stand, and then looking across at the Kop: absolutely packed with Danes, and a noisy sea of red-and-White. I think I spent more time looking at that, with a feeling that all was right with world, than looking at the game. 3 matches with the S6 Kop solid, totally, boisterously red-and-White. Pleasure indeed. What have been your best moments?
Buying a pork sandwich from Beres probably or buying a mattress protector in the sale at Dunelm Mills.

I afterwards discovered though that one of these was smelly, rancid, stained in dripping and unsuitable for purpose. The sandwich was nice though.

Remember going to Gerry Young's testimonial back in 1971, it was shortly after the 'Ian Bowyer' show :p

Plenty of Blades on the East Bank having a laugh, they were as quiet as mice

Looking in the Denis Clarebrough book, I see the crowd for the September 1964 Birchenall game (2 goals in only his second match :)) was just above 32000. This was a derby in the top division; anybody have any idea why it was so low? I don't remember thinking at the time that it wasn't a big crowd.
Sheffield football fans disgusted at the bribery scandal?

Admission prices went up?

Watching from the Pigs end (North Stand) as I couldn't get tickets for the away end, seeing United win 2 - 1 and hearing at first hand the moaning Pigs around me and seeing the Leppings Lane End erupt! Asaba and D'jaffo the scorers.

I still have the scars though of having to go to their ticket office and when I asked for a ticket for the derby game their security check was ""which team do you support"!? As primitive as it was, it almost worked because I had to obviously say Sheffield Wednesday!

During the game there was an announcement that said "To any Sheffield United fans, in the home stands we ask that you remain quiet etc"! This guy a row in front of me stood up and shouted "I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE YOU PIGGY B*****S!" Me and my two mates who were also Blades, did then start to sing along to their pitiful chant of der der der der der der, but just missed out the Wednesday at the end! This was the same game where a United fan celebrated in the Pigs Kop and I remember seeing him legging it!

You did the same as me then. I wasn't far from the several hundred Blades in the "whichever" stand it was for the 2-1 win. Went to London road for a proper celebration afterwards. Wish I could remember the journey back through town

I also remember the 0-0 match in 1971, we seemed to fill the ground

Looking at the kop behind John Tudor and to the right where it is packed was all Unitedites, it was a poor turn out for the pigs that day. The game was utter shit too if I remember right. I hear they are going back to that kit next season LOL

I couldn't get a clear impression of the crowd from the photo. Does it look a bit sparse? Great picture of Hodgy - there must be hundreds like that, immediately recognisable. Didn't always get great distance on the punch, but always went in 100%, never got bullied by the big centre-forwards.

There is a good photo in the Morning Telegraph of Birchenall celebrating his second goal (heading in a Barry Hartle corner). Would be nice to see that photo in Star Retro!

Most of the Unitedites met up in Pond St and rather than get on the (Special) buses on Flat St some bright spark decided to do a March to the sty must have been about 2000 in the mob it's a fookin long walk from town to the sty. Must have looked impressive though. Of course the younger Blades won't remember the after match Marches to town from the lane which quite often turned violent around that time.

I'd never do it again to be honest. It was quite scary thinking what could happen if I recognised an idiot pig fan in their end who would grass me up! Also obviously you can't celebrate and that robs you of the joy that i would have got been in the away end. Even worse when people start talking to you about how they almost scored etc and you have to nod your head pretending! Never again! But it was brilliant to see the away end all rise as one and giving it large to the Wednesday fans!

I've lived in Hillsborough all my life and used to live on Vere Road at the back of the North Stand. Always wore my United kit when I was a kid around the Porks ground. Had a few altercations and cross words with Porkers in Hillsboro pubs. I honestly don't give two fucks that they know I'm a Blade. I'm glad it winds them up. One of the best sights was when we took over Legends on Hillsboro Corner. WAWAW. No, fuck off turd breaths.

v Fulham in December 1973? There was a photo in the Green Un the following week of Wednesday fans holing a banner that either said "Rubbish" or "Boo"

That might have been the one Silent.

I remember their kop being so empty, we walked straight to the front. People streaming out. My BiL was smiling.

Joyous day.

Wow! I had forgotten that. Interesting looking at the stats that they got a bigger crowd for a 3rd round cup tie v. Coventry than they did for a Boxing Day match v. Hull. How times have changed.

I hear they are going back to that kit next season LOL

Their chairman doesn't like stripes...Hence this seasons Ipswich cast-off strip for them, and next season is from the Oldham collection. He even decides what number the players wear. It's the kind of thing that fans will put up with while ever results are going well.
I can't wait for when they are playing in green and yellow hoops, and he's changed the name to Sheffield Firebacks (the national bird of Thailand)

Good work fella. Never really been a huge fan of knocking about the S6 area for good ale and party nights, but on the odd occasion I did as a younger geezer, I always found the females there game as a pheasants. Probably cos they knew they had a proper Bladesman in their midst. Has always been an accepted fact that Blades men are strong in arm, smart in head, drink like fish, and good in bed. And the S6 birds know it. It's like they've eaten spam all their lives and then a Bladesman turns up and it's like fillet steak to em.

Have a like Blade.

We went to someone from works wedding reception there a few years back. My daughter was still in nappies and took a massive dump. With the missus dancing and me being a modern man I copped for changing the soiled article. There wasn't a baby change in the gents so I found an open office in the corridor and changed her on the desk.
Am I a bad man cos I just left the shitty nappy out on the desk instead of bagging it and throwing it away?

Never a truer word written in jest .

No Probably made the air fresher .

I once f*cked a bird in Walkley. Does that count?

I did a piggy bird in the back of my sister's Sierra somewhere up the back of Wisewood. She was an associate of my other sister's mate, elegantly called 'Gobby Debby.'

It was not my best moment. Needs must.

"Soh. Amma seein thi ageeyun?"

"Neyaw. Geddout"

Dropped her off on my way home, about two miles from where she lived.

"Can't tha droppus of at ahr ouse?"

"Neyaw. Geddout."

"Thahta reyt un thee."

"Ar. Geddout."

*roars off*

23rd April, 1975. Pigs 0 v Aston Villa 4. Villa were promoted from League Division 2 on this day and took thousands (and Wednesday's kop). At the end, we all invaded the 'pitch', I made my way to the centre spot and pissed on it!

Also, dunno if it counts but I had plenty of 'best times' with a tart off the Cross. I think most of the estate did.

This thread has proved scientifically that having sex in S6 is more enjoyable than watching football there. A minority have managed to attend matches where the opposite is true, but these are infrequent occurrences.
