Berge is always subbed off between the 15th and 75th minutes isn’t he?
He's scored 4 and assisted 3 this season. All bar 1 (Blackpool goal at home, 3rd min) have been between the 15th and 75th minute. Yes I am sad enough to have looked through them.

Before his injury he had 3 goals and 3 assists in 12 games, so a G/A every other game - he then missed 9 league games though injury, so far 1 goal in 5. When fit he is is easily one of the best players in the division.

Compared to our other midfielders (champ games only):

Berge: 16 games, 4 goals, 3 assists (G/A every 2.3 games)
Norwood: 25 games, 2 goals, 5 assists (G/A every 3.6 games)
Fleck: 11 games, 0 goals, 1 assist (G/A every 11 games(
Doyle: 16 games, 1 goal, 1 assist (G/A every 8 games)
Mcatee: 19 games, 3 goals, 1 assist (G/A every 4.8 games)

Yes we need him fit - but when he is, he is an automatic starter (IMO)

I was being a bit flippant, but well done on checking it out and proving me wrong! Interesting analysis.

Can't believe anybody would advocate selling him, knowing the position we're in and that very little of the proceeds would be reinvested.
Berge contributes to this team winning games. We need to win about 10 more to go up...

If Roma want him then do a deal involving Mady Camara joining us if we go up. He's the one we should have got when Berge signed. But he's only on loan there. So something like:

"Look Roma, if we go up then you better back off Camara and let us sign him instead. He'd obviously prefer Sheffield to Rome. Don't stand in the lads way. Ta"

It would be short sighted to let him go unless it was big money (which is doubtful) as his skill set suits the Prem as there are fewer second balls to compete for in midfield due to midfield build up play. If we don't go up fine he needs to go, but if we do we already have a prem player we don't need to purchase. We would have the spine of a decent team if we get promoted with Bogle and RDN on the flanks and cover for both so we would be adjusting and adding a few this time rather than creating a Prem team.

Could you explain to me what skills Berge is going to bring to a struggling EPL team who has the minority of possession?

I'd say he's definitely not suited to the prem, and definitely not with us. I really hope we keep him this season, but I would let him go if we got promoted.

He divides opinion and is very inconsistent, as we all know. I’d say he’s one of two of three players that we actually own, the other being Ndiaye and Bogle, who have the ability to run with the ball and the break the lines. That said, we didn’t see a lot of that the last time we played in the prem, but we were struggling badly and he was injured for most of it.

I think the problem is that he is poor defensively (and we'll need every CM to be good defensively) and slow on the ball (and we'll need to counter attack quickly).

He might have class, but he needs time and possession. Two things we're unlikely to have.

He rarely puts a shift in as well, despite being shattered after 60 minutes. He did more when he first signed and was unfit/not up to British speed.

Wouldn’t disagree with any of your comments. I have been underwhelmed considering the fee we paid and if we could get anything close to our money back in the summer, I’d sell.

He frustrates me so much, at times he looks unplayable, particularly at this level, but those moments are fleeting and hidden among too many crap, nondescript performances. As you say, he looks lackadaisical bordering on disinterested a lot of the time, you come away wondering if he actually cares. But then in his interviews, he comes across like a genuinely lovely fella with a great attitude, which is backed up by his colleagues.

The problem we'll have with Berge if we don't go up is value. We'll be lucky to get high single millions in the summer given he'll have 12 months left on his contract. He could literally just sit it out and we'll get nada. The takeover changes things, but I'd have sold this month if we got a decent offer given we seem to be struggling to pay the bills.

I'm not in usually one to post at HT because it can come back to bite you.

I'm one of Berge's biggest defenders, but this has been an appalling showing first half. He looks totally disinterested and has just cost us a goal. Hopefully he's hooked for Doyle.
Not sure I'd take him off at half time but as much as I love Sander I have to admit I'd forgot he was playing at times
