If we are planning to transition to any formation other than 3-5-2 next season then it'd make sense to have a look at him over pre-season as a wide forward, particularly if we want to play something like 4-2-3-1. Suspect CW has already made his mind up about him but every chance he could develop playing a bit more regularly in the Champ - unfortunately the PL was just too big a step up for him (and many others) and his size meant he always seemed a bit of a passenger for us defensively. We'll probably cut our losses so as we don't trigger any further payments to Hacken.

I agree that he’ll likely be transfer listed but that doesn’t spell the end for Bennie. History has shown (Coutts, Freeman, Akpom) that he can change his stance on players so hopefully Bennie will be able to turn it around like they did.

Think we'll keep him due to nobody else wanting to buy him for what we paid, same with Slimane.

Don't they have an option to buy as a result of the loan in the first place? If so, then tell them to trigger it or fuck off with their lowballing bullshit

He's hardly played. They won't want to pay full wack

Not every signing is going to work out and I get that. But the collective impact of Traore, Slimane, Larouci and Thomas has been absolutely zero, and we will probably start next season without any of them. Throw in Grbic, and this must be the single worst year of recruitment we have ever seen.

I think the one I don't get is Slimane.

The other 3 I think had opportunities and it was clear they were lacking in some areas (such as traore just not being strong enough!)

Slimane looked half decent in preseason and I'm not sure we really got to see enough of him.

Not sure if this means he was so bad the coaching staff didn't even let him on the pitch but I still wonder if we have missed seeing something!

When he first came in his fitness wasn’t good enough. More recently he’s been injured.

If anybody had been at the crystal Palace away match they would understand exactly why were fucking him off! Before being dragged off at half time! He looked like he'd won a raffle to be on the pitch for 45mins... like the rest of the signings fucking horrific!!

Reminds me of the ‘George Weah’s brother’ thing with Harry Redknapp. Always made me giggle.

Would actually be funny (in a couple of years) if this was something similar.

So, so, so fucking slow it's unbelievable

Think the only positives I've seen from Slimane was that cameo at home v Brentford when he came on as sub for the last 20. He looked a genuine player that day playing wide right.

It's just not funny how amateurish last summer's recruitment was.

I don't really blame Hecky.

I get the feeling he was quite passive in these sort of things and happy to allow others to do what they were paid to do whilst he coached.

I forgot one: Tom Davies. Fuck me. What a fucking transfer window.

Weren't we on the positive receiving end of this when we sold Andy Gray to Sunderland for £1.2mil? I'm sure I'd heard somewhere that Mick McCarthy was interested in one of our players and the scouts watched the wrong one and ended up signing Gray in error.
