Nantes breaking the news on our takeover?

Saying no longer dealing with same people at Sheffield United... oh and calling us greedy 🤣

They still really want him tho.

Interesting..

Translation into English below..

A return still possible?

If the transfer market opened almost a month ago, the future of Benie Traoré is still very uncertain. The player is indeed still in discussions with FC Nantes... but is for the moment blocked by Sheffield's too high demands and the change of ownership that is currently disrupting the hierarchical and administrative organisation of the English team.

"We are still in contact with him, his entourage and his club. Today, things are stuck because Sheffield are too greedy. There is another problem, which is that the club is being bought out... They are not the same people anymore so it takes a little longer. It remains open," said Antoine Kombouaré, when asked about the young Ivorian striker (21 years old) during his press conference on Tuesday, July 2. This information was confirmed by Franck Kita, the general manager of FCN, who was present alongside the Kanak coach.

I thought the fee was already set as part of the loan deal, option to buy him at an agreed fee? I’m guessing they are saying sod that he’s not worth the fee but will take him at a knock down price if you want.

Tell em to phuck off.

I remember when David Moyes moaned about us being greedy because we sold Walker and Naughton to Spurs for more than Everton were offering. This came briefly after he refused to sell one of their players for less than he thought they were worth.

I’ve always thought he was a wanker since that incident.

Could be a decent player for us at championship level. Don't know why we would be keen to sell for a loss

As I have said before he needs more upper body strength for our leagues. He has a great first touch to be fair but he clearly looks like a lightweight winger playing as a striker. Which in less competitive European leagues is fine but when you are being asked to perform at the highest level like the PL you need a lot of more strength.

But we are in the championship. Pretty sure Ligue 1 is a higher standard than it

You still need to have good strength even in the Championship. Enough teams in this league can bully you off the park.

You need to have strength to compete in ligue 1. I wouldn't write little Benie off just yet, he's only 20. Decent touch and pretty quick, could be a real asset for us yet. Nantes seem to rate him and they are no mugs

So we're struggling to bring players in, we now know the takeover is making it harder for players we need to leave to free up funds.

This is such a farce and if it's not sorted either way in next week or two we'll be playing catch up in a season we can't afford to be playing catch up.

My guess is that the proposed owners have underestimated the level of efl scrutiny and the time it can take to get these deals done. The only thing we desperately needed was a plan on recruitment whether that's frees and loans or whether we're able to pay decent fees for players. Lack of stability and uncertainty as anyone knows is a recipe for disaster. Just as the Tories!

Yep, if we are even contemplating giving something other than 3-5-2 a chance then he should be given opportunity to impress. I don't think he'll ever make it down the middle in the Champ but no reason he can't play wide.

Not quick enough???
I don't think he's rapid no, I'll grant you that he's got pace...'not quick' was a loose term by me. There's a difference in elite football when most players on the pitch are pretty quick.
