Bashams injury

May well be looking at Martin Cranie now, and I'm not joking. If Bash is out for the season - it's gonna be, just just know it, then we surely need to sign a free agent cover even if it takes that player weeks to get fit etc, we can't rely on throwing in a youngster, but saying that maybe that's better than signing a free agent. I'm contradicting myself now I know, I just worry about throwing in a youngster into a promotion pushing team. Can we recall Lopata? He's the obvious option of the younger players.

I'll answer my own question as looked it up for those that are interested.

Lopata on extended loan:

“It suits me to stay, it suits Southend and Sheffield United too so there’s an option with the recall.

I do wonder if we'll seriously be looking at that now.

Gordon's next up, right sided centre half/Baldock cover
If Basham has done knee ligaments, it probably would have been better to get him straight off Saturday, and not run around for 3 more minutes...in hindsight of course.

In Heckys post match interview it didn’t sound good at all about Bash , stating that there're still assessing the injury but def not a short term thing .
With Goode now facing a 3 match ban we’re gonna down to the bare bones in the right hand side CB role .

Sounds like he's out for a while doesn't it?

I'm not sure what we will do about it for the next 3 games.

Either Gordon comes in, we change formation or we do some shuffling.

We might see Ben Davies on the right side perhaps of the 3 too.

I'd be tempted to stick Baldock at RCB. He has covered there well before and is solid defensively.

Then a midfield 4 with MGW on the right, as he is also very good out of possession and quite happy to get back and defend if needed. He also has the energy to run the flanks for 90 minutes.

Then stick Berge and Ndiaye behind Sharp.

Davies played on the right yesterday, so I'd be tempted to keep him there.
Injuries are really starting to affect us now, defensively we are definitely down to the bare bones.
MGW was hobbling about last night holding an ice pack, great to see him joining the goal celebrations though

It looked worrying but looking at the other vids, he seemed to be moving a lot better after the game. I can see him being rested for Saturday.

I think a Blackburn player stood on his foot during the match.

he had an ice pack on his knee and looked as though he had jarred it

Ooh - I'm with you MGW. Same thing happened to me in walking football a few weeks ago. Got a blood blister under my toe nail now. Bloody animals!

Not saying these injuries wouldn't have happened anyway but I do think those xmas postponed matches are taking their toll now.

That bullshit over Christmas has impacted us for the worse and yet seems to be paying off for Boro and QPR.

Doesn’t sound good at all tbh , can’t see him change formation , poss Davies in RH CB or put Davies in central position & shift Egan to the right ?
Maybe this is when you’d have to blood in Gordon or even bring back Lopata back from his loan .
Can’t believe how threadbare we’re becoming with the ever increasing injury list , none of em short termers

All sounds ideal for Wilder coming back to the Lane.

4 of the first choice back 5 injured along with last seasons top scorer and the clubs record signing.

Needless to say most of these would have been available to us, except O'Connell at the point of the original fixture.

But somehow us potentially having to recall Lopata from loan or blood a youngster is ok, but it wasn't ok for them. Righto.

I wonder if Winston Read is available? Played on loan with Brentford last year, was still playing in matches for New Zealand despite not having been fixed up.

That would be the goalscoring Davies playing out of position and arriving unmarked to score !

MCL injuries aren't usually too serious.
Not as serious as ACL but still serious. If it's a grade one that's a minimum of 4 weeks, a grade two is 8 weeks or.more and a grade 3 full tear can be months and months.

Might work in our favour in a weird sense. Good to get him to rest up. Played a lot of games recently. Rest the mind..back for the finale.

He seems fairly positive. Has he had his scan already?

I hope we've got Andre Wisdom in the building and training with the team to get his fitness up.

That's one name you wouldn't mind joining from the free agents pool.

He's currently at Brum getting minutes in his legs, looks 'rusty' Bowyer says. Offer him a deal til the end of the year.

Im sure yesterday Hecky said he'd been sent for a scan that day and they were awaiting feedback from the medical experts.
Sounds like it's semi serious but at least he's not out for the season and should be back in a 2 to 4 weeks.
