Under Bassett it is arguable that the calibre of a lot of our players was second or third division, and yet we remained in the top tier for four seasons. Obviously Bassett had great motivational qualities, but (and I know memories can be rose tinted sometimes) I don't recall us (the supporters) being anything like so negative. We expected to win the derby games even though an impartial observer would say that Wednesday had a far better team. And at home, we thought we could beat anyone.
