I would agree same at our Wembley appearance most Blades I talked to were expecting to lose ,it is an attitude that has you beat before the ball is even kicked.
We need to sweep this out of the club we have become more afraid of losing rather than looking to the win.

i cant agree with that the mood of the fans purveys itself down on to the players ,ever was this more noticeable than our last wembley appearance where we seemed more intent on giving the ref a hard time than getting behind our own team

The same group of fans - in their negativity - lead to us being 2-0 up, then the same group of fans caused us to concede one, then - again, with their negativity - caused Simmo to flap like a wounded seagull at a cross for the equaliser? If he had caught the ball cleanly (bear with me with this) and we'd have held out the final few more minutes, we would have won the match. Don't tell me that the game was thrown away by doom mongering from the fans during the week.

I'd rather the multi millionaire who owns the club and the chaps that get paid thousands of pounds a week to play for us give me reason not to expect the worst than have some unfounded optimism that would lead to regular disappointment and possibly being accused of being deluded.

For what it's worth, I thought we looked the better side yesterday and were comfortable for most of the game but was fearful once they started pressuring us that we'd cave in as we've done so often before. And it came to pass, we shit it.

Back to the thread title "balance of power" imo we have seen not so much a shift more of an evening up, none of it due to the swine getting any better..... ok they have lost the £25 million debt but as a football team they are worse than a few seasons back just a bunch of 6 foot + thugs playing hoofball. Just goes to show how far we as a team and club have fallen, and to think we called Warnocks team long ball merchants. 2 mediocre clubs one of which has never won a trophy in my lifetime and never will. I can't see either club gracing the Premiership any time soon, a slightly better chance for the pigs they have a owner who will put a little cash in we on the other hand have one intent on pulling every penny he can out.

Not really. I don't believe they'll go on a 10 game winning streak, but it could happen. They don't need me to believe it before they do. However, believing it will happen will never in a million years 'make it happen'. Only one can cause the other.

Yes it would be nice, but, as I originally said and TD agreed, only the club, whether it be the players through performances or the board/management via some meaningful and ambitious signings, can do something to make us believe this. It would not be rational or realistic for us to suddenly collectively believe we will win every game. We need some evidence to instil and support this belief.

Following our good start, I had this belief, now we've hit a dodgy patch, it's evaporated. If we start to win again and look convincing, the belief will return. Get winning, Blades, and let positivity be restored.

Also, I wasn't aware that Neil Warnock ever managed us in the third tier of English football. I could have sworn he was the one who prevented us from sinking that low.

Although that could mean that Wednesday are currently a division higher than they might be because of the over optimism of their supporters, and we are two divisions lower than we could be because of our negative outlook!

Under Bassett it is arguable that the calibre of a lot of our players was second or third division, and yet we remained in the top tier for four seasons. Obviously Bassett had great motivational qualities, but (and I know memories can be rose tinted sometimes) I don't recall us (the supporters) being anything like so negative. We expected to win the derby games even though an impartial observer would say that Wednesday had a far better team. And at home, we thought we could beat anyone.
