Bill Brown would be in goal and Henry at FB. Bobby Smith CF. Terry Dyson?
All those I would have thought.

Rotherham away in 1984. United needing the points near the end of the season for our promotion push. Bob Atkins pops up with a last minute winner. Mental scenes on the away end and on the 69 bus home (I was only 14). Fucking brill
My Dad went to the first replay at the City Ground, but missed the other 2 games
.
Thanks - enjoyed reading that. I differed from your dad in 2 respects, both because I was only 13 at the time. I missed the replays because of school (my brother was in 6th form, and he went to both replays - serves him right, I got better A-levels than him); and as a naive kid, I thought we had a chance against Spurs, because we'd beaten them 3-0 three years earlier away in the 4th round. My Dad went to the first replay at the City Ground, but missed the other 2 games due to work commitments I think.
He said that the feeling at the time was that despite the double not having been done since the 19th Century United and Leicester were really just engaged in a playoff to decide who would lose to Tottenham in the final.
Fun fact: There have been 8 FA Cup semi finals that have gone to 3 or more games. United have been involved in 4 of those ties (1899 v Liverpool, 1902 v Derby, 1928 v Huddersfield, 1961 v Leicester). We won the first 2 ties and lost the last 2 ties.
It was November 1991, the Saturday after we beat Wendy 2-0. The away end reverberated to the sound of "We beat the Wednesday 2-0" to the tune of 'Blue Moon'.
Darlington could never be repeated in today's stadiums. We had the whole of the ground, I saw 5 Darlington fans that day.I think Darlington and Leicester should be taken out of the equation really. They are in Blades folklore and can never be surpassed.
Even if we got promoted this season I can’t ever see that many people being allowed to travel to Stoke in May.
Ipswich away playoff semi final 1997. Incredible scenes in the away end for Andy Walker's scrambled equaliser.
Any older blades on here go to this? Looks a reyt match.
Remember that game very well! it was under Furphy , & we were challenging for Europe for the first & only time, missed out in the last game at Birmingham where we needed to win but drew 0-0.My late dad was there. I was in the TV room at my boarding school, my heart sank when someone told me that we were losing 2-0 at half time and I believed that our Euro dream was over. During the 2nd half I got updates from a Blackpool fan who was listening to the latest scores from his transistor radio while we were watching wrestling on ITV. I went berserk when I was told that we got the winner! A Derby fan was pleased as Everton were challenging for the title
There have been so many classic away games to mention but my top 5 are:
1 Darlington away. Won 2-0
2 Leicester away won 5-2. What a day!!.
3 piggies away won 3-1. Yellow balloon fest.
4 Peterborough away won 4-0.
5 Ipswich away playoff semi final. 1-1??.
I also remember going to Newcastle for a league cup game and we lost 0-2 but didn’t matter as we won the home leg 3-0. They scored both goals in the first half??. That was the longest 45 mins of my life!!!.
Especially when that wall fell down!Mental scenes on the home end as well, and down both sides

peterboro away, parked in a car park, with blades whod travelled down in an ice cream van, playing the musical chime and eating ice creams, laughed me socks off
anyone remember oldham away when we were one down after a minute i recall, and that was the last kick they had as we battered them 5-1. then the old bill made us walk thriugh an absolute bog to get out the stadium
One from left field here, not the most memorable away game, but a good Un!
Wrexham away in the FA Cup sometime in the 1980’s. I think we scored 5?
Seem to remember Edwards getting a hat trick?
Especially when that wall fell down!
Went to that. Did he not get 4 ?
Colin Morris came off the bench & had a blinder , I think he scored 3?peterboro away, parked in a car park, with blades whod travelled down in an ice cream van, playing the musical chime and eating ice creams, laughed me socks off
