I’ve been arguing as always with the pig at work about how many blades were in the north stand, he says only a handful of blades were in but you can clearly see on this video how many are in the corner, however I can’t seem to find anywhere a really good image of it, does one exist?
I’m not condoning fighting in the stands by the way I just want to prove to the twat that there was more than 20 blades in there, it was more like 200+ from my recollection.
We’ll never see days like that again, I’m pretty sure you need to attend around 6-10 games and be on the system just to get a ticket for a derby game now. In them days it was a free for all, also interesting to note on that video how many empty seats there was plus the commentator mentions 32,000 at the start of the video and says 7,500 blades… you do the maths. Massive !!

The away game in April the same season (2-1 win) was the game where we must have had upward of 800-1000 in the North Stand.

Before the game over the tannoy they asked for any/all Blades fans in the North Stand to make their way over to the leppings lane end of the stand and they put them all in the end block of the North Stand that was left open for segregation 😂. Have a look at the highlights of that and send it to your piggy mate….he’ll probably say it was AI generated!

I’m not sure if you’re confusing the original video I posted with this game, there’s certainly a few yellow jackets in the same area for this game but no defined “no man’s land” like the league cup game, also the yellow jackets look like stewards for this game but the cup game were riot police.

Edit - on second look you might be right. Not sure though. I was at both but particularly remember the cup game as more hostile

Yes, that's true as I was in there. The coppers came round about 10 minutes before half time and said anyone needing to go to the bog, go now as you won't get access at half time. This was because they'd segregated the concourse but would be opening it at HT for the pig fans to use the bog. When I got there, the bog was full off Blades spraying piss up the walls and across the floor to welcome the pigs when it was their turn at HT 🤣

I always think of that occasion when I hear this. If you've never seen the Val Doonicans BTW, go and see them when they're around, they're hilarious.

I was in the north stand and we had around 800 some of wendies naughty boys came on before kick off with one getting a pie straight in the face the syp probably saved them not a lot happened after that the bobby Davison match there was a shed load of us on north stand

There was the “no man’s land” prior to the game, but as the match approached I think they realized how many blades were in that stand so started having them move and made the tannoy announcement, and same at half time, by end of the game it was full and just a line of stewards separating the fans.

The cup game was more hostile - night match, first time we’d played them since 1994. Still can’t believe we didn’t win that game, what was Marcus Bent doing!

We had the entire Leppings Lane stand, so that's the official 7,500.
There were reports of "loads" on the North Stand. There were some on the Kop too. Not in big groups though. My brother sat on the Kop with his mates and kept their mouths shut. One Blade jumped up when we scored and was frog marched down the Kop walkways with his hands tied behind his back, taking punches from any pig that felt obliged

Hitting the bar from 5 yards..

One of my memories from this match is two fans fighting on the pitch while play continued! Please can someone confirm I've not dreamt this? We absolutely battered them as well, how we lost I'll never know. Richie Humphreys was playing left back for them, marking Paul Devlin, and Devlin absolutely ripped him a new one.

There was a picture of it on the front of The Star.

Yes for both games at Swillsborough there was a a sizeable section of Blades fans corralled over towards the Leppings Lane side. I’d guess at least a 1,000 if not more.

Pigs put no restrictions on their tickets that year so it was easy for anybody to get their hands on one. For the game at the lane (1-1 Bobby Ford pen) we only sold tickets as part of a 3 match package which, given our attendances at the time were only just hitting 20k in the revival under Warnock, meant we didn’t sell out alongside deterring any pig fans from snapping up tickets in the home end (despite their usual proclamations that thousands of them would be infiltrating).

A Blade fan ran on the pitch from the North Stand to celebrate our equaliser and then an irate Wendy fan chased after him. Both were caught by the stewards and I think both were taken away.

But I'm pretty sure the match had restarted by this point, so it was all quite comical.

I'm sure Mark Man City Moorhouse invaded the pitch at Bramall Lane that season. I'm sure I remember him bragging about it.

There were a few in the North Stand, including me. Only the 2nd time I've sat in a home end, other one as Watford around the same time.

Only highlight was agreeing with a Wednesday fan about their full back being skinned time and time buy our winger at the time

Turned out the 3 match package was good value, as it included the epic James Thomas come back win over Preston at Christmas
