imo we need bbd plus another striker with power and pace but its not likely to happen is it

Dreaming of BBD getting Barnes, same old, same old
Chances are we'll get both. And when Barnes turns out to be decent which I think he will, I reckon fans will understand why Wilder went for him.

It's a Billy Whitehirst type signing! It's smart in my view from Wilder. We need a Moore back up, we can't use a precious loan spot on a back up so Barnes is ideal and we use the loan spots on BBD and other areas like centre mid and centre back.

Can't we just trust Wilder? It worked out well with Leon and Madine didn't it?!

That's Tyres Campbell.
I honestly don't think Campbell is pacey. I've seen him try and fail a few times to out pace centre halves and not manage to do so.

He's got penalty box goal poaching prowess very similar to Billy. I think that's where his talent is

I'll be honest I've not been overly impressed by Moore, I'd much rather we try and get a player in the Tyrese Campbell mould as he seems to fit the system we play much better.

Barnes would be a very limited signing in regards to minutes he'd be able to give us, which fine if we have the resources to bring others in.

I know some United signings have been disappointing. However in the summer every name we wanted we got.

Wilder knows what the squad needs and that might just be a cheap (ish) CF with experience that can back up Moore & Campbell. He wouldn’t be my first choice but Wilder definitely knows more about players than I do & he’s always street smart with his signings in the championship.

I think we’ll get BBD a lot of journalists & El Accounto saying that one is all lined up.

Just my opinion, why can't Barnes get in the norwich team?

I don't believe, good as they are we haven't a premiership quality striker on the books, so I'd like us to forget about players who are on the decline who'll need replacing in the premiership (if we get there), look at talented lad coming through, Barry for instance, then in the summer get Brewster off the books and use his wages to sign someone else

I agree that Ashley Barnes may seem a busted flush nowadays, but we've had a certain amount of success, including clinching promotions, with some older, street wise strikers signed for a pittance. Bob Hatton, Billy Whitehurst, Wayne Allison, Neil Shipperley, James Hanson, Gary Madine, Leon Clarke et al. Obviously a few useless donkeys along the way as well.

It could work and for probably a relatively low outlay. Trust CW and his staff to be more fully aware of the pros and cons. Stranger things have happened.

This is a signing when you've admired a propa propa centre forward and his absolute limitations for years and now finally have an easy chance to sign him (because he's past it but so what)

For Barnes see Hanson, Madine and Hogan....a typical Wilder signing of an experienced forward man to come on for 20 minutes in tight games nd help try and get us over the line. Don't personally like the idea of Barnes at all but from Wilders point of view it has worked before.

I would much rather us look at a striker capable of starting the majority of games and weighing in with 7 or 8 goals to the end of the season, (like Moore did for Ipswich last season) but there are probably few available.

As long as it is only for 6 months I really don’t have a problem with this signing.
As long as it is a back up for Moore I agree. We 3 starters on top in my opinion...CB,CM and a reasonably pacey forward

I'm far from excited about Barnes, but I do wonder why everyone against him have got their knickers in a twist when Wilder has a good track record with this sort of signing (i.e. Hanson, Madine, Clarke etc as pointed out above). If you all were happy with all of them, then fair enough, but I imagine you were less than happy then too.

If it’s a choice between Barnes or Oné coming on as sub, I’m choosing Barnes every time. So as third choice, back up striker it might work.

I’d obviously love us to sign a striker that would be our first choice striker and score 15 goals, but that’s very unlikely to happen unfortunately.

I think his top speed is good, but acceleration and change of direction speed don't quite match.

No goals since March, but I wouldn't rule out that Barnes could have a role to play. Ideally we should look for more players who could cope in the Premier League though.

Explain to me why he can't get in norwichs side ffs!
