Gone Elsewhere Ashley Barnes

I think the main point re Cannon is it seems he was coming in the summer and everything was agreed until the last minute removal of funds. We must have done all our due diligence and given hes the Championships joint top goalscorer with 8 it ought to be an easy 'revisit' providing Leicester have the ability to recall him and sell him or loan him to us.

I can also see the advantage on taking BBD given we know what he offers and did well for us last season.
 

I can see logic in signing Barnes but it might be that Barnes is a back up option if we can't get someone else. I do like Barnes though, I think he'd do well.
 
Hardly a prolific goalscorer but could be the added 1% that we might need to see us over the line.

Also brings a bit of added shithousery in the Prem if we took him on an 18 month deal and went up.

I'm going to wake up in cold sweats, thinking about heading to Anfield with a 36 year old Ashley Barnes leading the line
 
This would be so Sheffield United/Wilder, talking about signing Barnes and not Sainz. We are in such a strong position, safe from relegation by Christmas, new owners coming in and we are shopping at Aldi not Waitrose FFS.

It could be decades before we are in such a strong position again, don’t blow it filling the squad with journeymen and projects

Last time we shopped in waitrose we got Brewster, hope he doesn't go all silly with new moneh

sign bbd tom cannon a good midfielder and another winger in january and were nailed on for top 2
 
Just sounds so us / Wilder doing it on the cheap. Are we that unattractive 3 points clear of Leeds week before Christmas that better option wouldn’t want a bit of our action? Wonder if Des Taylor is allreyt with this?
 
It would be heroic in my opinion signing Barnes! Leeds and Burnley have huge squads with multi million pound players everywhere and for us to sign 35 year old Barnes in a free would be very Wilder and I think it could be a Wayne Allison type masterstroke!

Yeh, cause Wayne Allison fired us to promotion in 02/03. What an underwhelming signing Barnes would be.

We could have easily have gone up that season with Allison. Barnes is only coming in, if he does, as back up, with twenty minutes to go in games I can't think of many better to hold up play, win fouls, score the odd goal. I think think he'll do much better than you think.

And they wonder why the gap between PL and CH is so fucking gigantic.
 
We are absolutely screaming for some pace up front. They don't come much slower than Ashley Barnes.
