Please tell EPL, SKY & The BBC for starters pleaseI think you will find that the ones in Labour who are against the piss poor treatment of palestinians by the current Israeli govt do not hate jews but hate people being oppressed. Indeed in just one example supposed Jew hater jeremy corbyn was the one campaining to stop the demolition of a jewish cemetery in North London a few years ago, whilst Margaret Hodge, she of the 'corbyn hates jews' group, and jewish herself, backed the demolition as she wanted private housing built on the land. Many jewish people and groups back corbyn and Labour and hate the politicisation of anti semetism by the centre and right. Its a shame that no one wants to investigate racism and more specifically anti semetism and islamophobia in the tory party.
Finally, i hope the blades board do not relent on this matter. Politics has no place in football.
What you do with your foreskin on a Friday night is none of our business thankyouverymuchJeremy Corbyn says it's all over hyped.
Though as I have just rolled a Friday night four skinner I couldn't possibly comment.
Yep, I definitely ‘demanded’ that we accept the definition didn’t I?!
I’ve always preferred actions to words. I cannot remember any antisemitic chanting at BL. Playing Spurs would be the obvious occasion but can’t recall anything. Equally has the club ever shown prejudice to Jewish people or players? I’m not Jewish so maybe I’m not attuned to it in the same way a Jewish person might be so I am willing to be proved to be wrong.
Leeds ownership were Jewish for a while too which given some of the right wing issues their fan base had back in the day was always a little ironicSpurs & Man City are traditionally the two english teams with large jewish fan bases.
Why do we have to have and agree to a specific definition of what is prejudice against Jewish people? Is it not just ok that we have a zero acceptance policy against all kinds of racism and prejudice. As far as I am aware there has been zero instances of anti semitism at the lane.
We don't have to agree with definitions of prejudice against Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, atheists and agnostics as well do we so why this?
This is just political at the end of the day, which is supposed to have no part in football

I haven't been comfortable with "Black Lives Matter" because there is a political element to it, but am happy with shows of support for anti-racism (which is what I think most people mean when they say Black Lives Matter). So we are still ok with Taking The Knee and Rainbow Laces, but this one is unacceptable?![]()

I don't necessarily think such things as rainbow laces really achieves what people hope it will achieve, but don't have anything against it if people think it helps.
This is something different. It is a very specific definition of how people should think and speak and isn't entirely without criticism. If someone did the same for a definition of black racism or homophobia, with corresponding conditions that were grey areas (at best), I would probably disagree with that as well.
JM got some stick for that undoubtedly but many like myself respected his standpoint.Exactly this.
In recent months/years this type of 'show alliance to us or else' extreme approach seems to have intensified. This type of tactic is pushing me away because as Sheffsteel has correctly pointed out, it amounts to bullying.
Remember the James McLean refusal to wear a poppy? Many were outraged and thought he was a **** but he gave his informed reason why he objects and I respect his willingness to stand alone with it. He politely opted out of observing it without trying to force everyone else to abandon the tradition. Fair enough, tolerance swings both ways. Why can't we let something like this be an example of how to disagree?
By criticising the prince for the actions of his state, are you not doing the very thing that the definition is supposed to be against?Personally I would’ve liked to see sports/football to not to ne engaged in any way, with all of this of this politically-charged BS, all forms of it. The matter now in our hands wouldn’t be an issue, if Sheff Utd had not supported those rainbow laces, BLM etc.
Anyways, what you perceive as ”something different” in this instance, so do I, but for very different reasons. What’s different is that having LGBTQA++ -laces is okay, so is supporting vandalism and burglary in the name of BLM (I’ve honestly wanted to puke when I’ve seen our players taking the knee…), but now it’s not okay to not to show support to the only democratic country in the Middle-East.
I’m not buying your argument based on ”this is a very spcific definition, so it’s altogether different thing compared to supporting BLM LGBTQA++ lobbying groups. It’s not. What it shows is simply that Sheff Utd is owned by person who in his country is all okay beheading homosexuals, importing virtual slaves into the country, and hates Israel and the Jews.
It’s bait. Don’t fall for it.By criticising the prince for the actions of his state, are you not doing the very thing that the definition is supposed to be against?
This topic always highlights some hypocrisy but I guess the fact we're the only club to refuse and have Arab ownership, will only fan the flames of those with the set agenda.
I find it hard to have much of an opinion as I don't know why the club have specifically refused, and like others have said, I'm uncomfortable with modern day form of bullying to pressure people and organisations into very specific behaviour rather than just what most would consider reasonable and acceptable.
My hypocrisy point was more about those who claim anti-semitism is nonsense and is non-existent within Labour, and just about criticism of Israel, yet are quick to jump on any other form of racism.I don’t quite get the accusations of being called a hypocrite. Neither am I aware of any ”set agenda.” That sounds like someone with a tin hat on making the suggestion. And don’t overthink it: we have a Saudi owner who appears to be anti-semitic. Simple as that.
I think it’s bloody hypocritical to have had embraced all these LGBTQQA++ - things, and now even taking the knee for a higly political (BLM) agenda – then not joining the others in Prem in tackling anti-semitism. Personally I feel it’s wrong, and so it is also as what becomes to the public image of the club. To be the only club in the Prem to not to support this latest, obviously trendy, fab and attention-seeking declaration or what so ever, to me that also smacks as of stupidity on the club owner’s behalf.
Maybe because the club haven’t given their informed reason why they object?
Errr, because in general racism is easy to detect and even prominent left leaning jewish groups like JVL and jewish individuals such as author Michael Rosen have called the accusations thrown at Labour members as weaponising AS for political gain. The hypocrisy is that those pointing the finger at Labour's left are quiet as mice when Tory MPs and members have been openly spouting racist abuse, AS abuse and anti Islamic abuse...Bozo the clown has form for it and not a fckkn peep out of anyone. In addition Keor Starmer seems to be using AS as a means to rid the party of any left leaning members. This arsehole has just suspended some jewish Labour members who called out the weaponisation of AS. It's a damn shame what is happening just because the Israeli govt want to stifle criticism of its actions and it doesn't help those who are the real victims of AS.My hypocrisy point was more about those who claim anti-semitism is nonsense and is non-existent within Labour, and just about criticism of Israel, yet are quick to jump on any other form of racism.
This year has highlighted a ridiculous number of people claiming stuff like silence is violence whilst dismissing anti-semitism.

Lol.
Anyway I skirt the line on politics so I'll refrain from posting my view on this.
The lol was for your view of Corbyn whose cult and bunch of hypocrites were destroying Labour.Hardly a topic 'lol' about, unless you think racism and religious prejudice is funny.
I actually agree with a fair bit of what you've posted here and in your previous post, but do you have to turn this discussion into a Labour vs Tory squabble? This subject can be discussed without going into outright politics, which the forum owners have asked that we don't.Errr, because in general racism is easy to detect and even prominent left leaning jewish groups like JVL and jewish individuals such as author Michael Rosen have called the accusations thrown at Labour members as weaponising AS for political gain.
